What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Forget Your "P"s and "Q"s...

...some of us need to start minding our "L"s and "F"s.

[Warning: Parents, clear the room of innocents!]

One cake, two drastically different meanings:

Yes, yes, I know it's an "L." Well, kind of an L/F hybrid, really. In fact, you might say if L and F got together, had a few drinks...

No?

No.

Ok, then.

Good juck?

Eh. I got nuthin'.

This, on the other hand, is giving me a little too much:

Go ahead, Wreckerator. Tell us how that's an "L."

Or better yet, why don't we all go over the importance of keeping certain letters separated?

I bet that's one office send-off Janet will never forget.

And btw, I love that the Wreckerator threw in the towel at the "J."

Like, s/he was all, "Let's see, I nailed that capital L, but man, I dunno if I can pull off the J! Huh.

Ah, screw it."

Thanks to Caitlin B., Christopher P., Chrissy G., Robin S., who agree that all performance reviews should be written in frosting.

Love the fact that Janet left a comment. Ha!

I wish I could have been in the room when these cakes were revealed.

Man, my work would be a lot more entertaining with some good...luck. Yeah, luck. :)

Awesome. I really needed the laugh today too so thanks!

Ah yes, my sense of humor is like that of a 12-year-old boy. Therefore, this made me giggle.

I would love to win the book, as sadly my last one was destroyed :( It was a very sad day.

Thanks for all the continued laughs I get daily, and when sharing the site with friends for the first time!

Office Scandal! We always “new” Janet and Bob the Director had a swanky office romance going on. Bob is just upset because Janet left to work for the Broker down the street because the CEO looks like Fabio. Bob taught Janet who to mess with.

Aside from wishing I could get near perfect piping on the border of cake #2, I guess I should tell myself good fl**ks

Sadly my last book was destroyed, so I would love a replacement. It was a very sad day when I realized it was gone :(

Thanks for all the laughs, and the bonding I've done with family and friends over such a great site!

Oh dear.

Reminds me of when my friend tried to say 'You suck the fun out of me" but mixed up her 's' and 'f'. Yeah....

:-)

Hmmm...sounds a bit like high school? :)

I don't understand why this post is eliciting such exclamations of surprise. I make these for my husband ALL the time! ;D

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterReyna

Now, see...I read the first cake with an “S.” Even better, right? ;) Oh, my!

My hubby's never baked me a cake.... :-(

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I love it.

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTwenty

At least the wreckerator didn't try to draw the balloons on the Janet cake. That might have been a double wreck there.

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterHazel

Oh, good grief, how could anyone let these past the front counter?

Although it does take my mind back to the day my neighbor's five-year-old (who pronounced "t" as "f", for some strange reason) announced in the middle of K-Mart's toy dept. that she wanted to go get some chicken for lunch. Some KenTucky Fried Chicken. Only she didn't say "KenTucky"... and she kinda swallowed the "Ken" part...

And now, having shared that embarrassing moment with you, may I please be considered for a lovely prize??? Pretty please with fried chicken on it?

People have often confused my cursive lowercase f & b

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAlysa Sawyer

Well you cant be offended, at least it didnt say bad "luck"

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterLindsey Lu

Too bad these wrecks don't come with a picture of the recipient - I'd love to see their reactions!

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterCarrie

The first one looks like an "S" to me. So, "Good Suck"... also questionable.

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

I'll have what these wreckerators are having....

...cake!

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered Commenter-Sea Nymph-

Hey, can you blame them? Wrecking is a sexy thing.

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterJessica K

Oh, as a former professional wreckerator I have to admit I am so guilty of this one. And the sperm balloons. :)

Maybe a wall calendar might inspire me to dust off my frosting bag and get back in the game. ;)

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterShannon

The first one reads "Good Suck" the way I see it. But Wow...It never ceases to amaze me what people will send out of a bakery.

Ohhhh, and I want the book!

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterFarmWife

there's luck and there's karma. I wonder which was a factor here?

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKassia S.

Wow! Just wow!

Really makes you wonder if they do it deliberately.

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKristy P

BWAHAHAHA!

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterM

I need to work with Janet.

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered Commentertrish schroeder

This reminds me of the story of my nephew who couldn't pronounce the "Tr" sound in the word Truck... replaced it with an F every time... and never failed to squeal excitedly and point every time he saw one what it was he was spying.

(I would love a book btw! It's my birthday Saturday so I'm a near-kindred to John)

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterTori

This comment is brought to you by my foolish wishes at getting free merch. And maybe to express my absolute love and awe for this blog. Yeah. Little bit of both.

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterblah blah

Are you really sure that's a "k" on the 2nd one?
jucr? Lucr? Fucr?
Maybe it was supposed to be Lucre.
Sit Lucre! Good Lucre! Now Speak! Now buy me things! Good Lucre!

as always you make me LOL no matter what kind of day we're having. You rock!

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMelissa B

Idea:
Sell bakery posters that contain commonly misspelled words [Congratulations], how-to make balloons that actually resemble balloons, and how to write in cursive . . . but bakeries would probably just print these guides on edible paper and put them on cupcake cakes. Typical.

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterMJ

Actually, the first one looks like "Good Suck"

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAnonymous

Those are some rally lucked up cakes!

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterHarry F.

I guess the cakes are due to office romances gone bad?

The only question was whether it's about the recipient's many talents, or questioning their decisions ("you paired off with X because you said it was 'just harmless fun', and now that you have to leave, was worth it?)

Janet's cake was attractive, at least. Maybe that was praising her! The others look a bit funereal...

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterAliza

maybe they worked at the bunny ranch?

November 4, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterKristy V

Well Janet thats one I will never lorget. Good f**K in the luture!
