What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

DANG!! How can that be unintentional? What else is it supposed to be?

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDiane

Sung to "Take My Breath Away"

Watching every motion of this thing upon my face
Haunted by the notion this sight I can not erase
Turning with a yearning to just knock this thing aside
Watching with emotion as it flops around but stays

Get this off my face.

Y'know, maybe we're overreacting. Maybe it's friendly. I mean, it's obviously happy to see us...

Does that c**k have a c**k???

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDee

Should that be the one-eyed snake monster? :)

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTrevor

Its tongue, slack with fear.
Its mouth, gaping for sweet breath.
Its teeth, inverted.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHaiku Joy

Well said. "One Eyed Monster" is among the funnier movies of the past few years.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkhereva

What on God's Green Earth is that supposed to be?!?! It is just wrong. WRONG!

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterlisadh

Oh, that was so intentional.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHirayuki

That's . . . fantastically wrong. And oh-so-funny!

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterWendy

Are you SURE that's unintentional?!?

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAJ

OHHHhhhhh MYYyyyyyyyyy!!

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDi

I have no words! Except that somewhere a teenage boy who was assisting in a bakery is sniggering!

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKate

Just... just... OMG. You know, even without the - erm - appendage, it's still just... OMG.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJoan

Is that a trick or a treat????

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterlinda

.....? Forgive me for being a stupid weasel, but there are two eyes....

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHannah A

snicker 'get it off' snort teehee winkwinknudgenudge
Going for the triple entendre?

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMindy

I think I'll keep my hands off this one....

@Sharyn: I thought maybe you'd do "Rocket Man".....

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermel

Even worse... is it just me or is the things made from a hotdog bun?

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

Oh, myself and my co-workers thank you for the terrific morning laugh!!!! @Sharyn and Haiku Joy -- thanks to you, too.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMaureen

Best. Cakewreck. Evah.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAudax

Bad enough that nose looks like a you-know-what, but is it spewing something out of what could only be a mouth???

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMary

Oh c'mon, that was as intentional as you can get! Hide your eyes, kiddies!

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDenita TwoDragons

Man, I hope this was an inside-joke kind of competition at the bakery... "Let's see who can make the most (obscene, gross, disgusting, pick your adjective) cake that someone will buy." Otherwise, this is just too... too... words fail me. And can you imagine mom trying to answer little Jimmy's question, "Why is there a wee-wee on that cake's face?"

@Sharyn - I will never be able to listen to that song again without the image of this thing springing to mind. And it's such a good song :-)

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterbmbagain803

@mel -- I was thinking "Little Willie Willie Won't Go Home..."

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSharyn

Dear God... What IS THAT THING!?!???!

(I DO hope it has perfect ears...)

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBADKarma

There. are. no. words.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKim in ID

@ Hanna "One Eyed Monster" or "One Eyed Snake" are euphemisms for the male member that is on the face of the monster. Not knowing that just proves that you are pure of heart and mind. (The rest of us have our minds in the gutter!)

@ everyone else. I am so adding a car to that monorail train to EPCOT: It was definitely intentional. The part-time high-school baker wondered if he'd get away with it. He totally did!

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTricia

Oh dear.

"Is that your nose or are you just happy to see me?"

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSalannB

...pass the eye bleach, please?

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermichelej

Oddly enough, I'm not as offended by the pecker nose as I am by the missing upper jaw, the ketchup spilling out of it's half-mouth, and the sour gummi worms that clash and are placed rather willy-nilly.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLorie

I <<scrolling up>> yeah, I think he's neutered at least.
Just when I think we've seen it all Jen posts something like this an gives me less and less hope for the decorators of the future.
"One-eyed mosnster" bahahaha
@Sharyn~ Oh the cleverness of you :-)

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJodee in WA

Six hours later and I'm still stunned.

I REALLY want to know what they were trying to attempt, because my mind is blank. I cannot fathom anything that this would resemble.
Plus, it's one thing for the baker/decorator to say to themselves, "Heh, heh. This is my last day here. I'm going to make the weirdest, most obscene 'cake' I can imagine." But for the other personnel at the store to just put it out there and leave it in the case, is beyond me.

There's a whole lot of not caring going on.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterlisadh

How could they NOT see it??? It HAD to be intentional-if not than I am losing faith in the human race D: Sharyn and Haiku joy bahahahahaha

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

Hahahaha awesome.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPeazyT

So can we say this is a c*ck-up?

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

The baker was smoking something that day, or else he was nibbling shrooms from the produce aisle.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterWisegal

Lorie said 'willy'
snicker, snicker, snicker

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered Commenteranonymous

All I have to say is that I have the light. Does anybody have a cigarette ?

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterChris

That whole mess looks like styrofoam and the "winkie" does not help!

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterVixx

If that's unintentional... what was it supposed to be?

What else could out have been?

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBarry

Hannah H... the "one eyed monster" is *not* referring to the visual orbs. It's a euphemism for the big, honking phallic object that''s plastered smack between the eyes.

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEllie_A

I'd like to point out the eyes are candies wrapped in eyeball paper/foil so that's unsanitary...
(practicing slow breathing to release stress) You know, the "willy" is rather well done compared to the rest of the cake. I, therefore, rule it as intentional. Not that my saying so means anything, of course.
Can I just say that I'm equal parts staring in disbelief and laughing like an asthmatic hyena with a hernia?? howl, howl, gasp, gasp, ohohohithurts, howl howl (repeat)

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

"But...I thought that old gypsy woman said 'A CURSE be upon your head!' This is MUCH worse!"

October 26, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHarold

That thing looks like something that is going to come after me tonight in my sleep. That's it I am going to kill it with fire and pray that thing stays dead lol. Wow if that was unintentional I would hate to see what their idea of an intentional wreck would be..I just know it would involve a clown somewhere. :D

October 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

I thought the cake was funny, but the "GET IT OFF" caption make me literally laugh out loud (And draw unwanted attention).

October 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGeorge P

I'm calling intentional on this as well. No way anyone over the age of 10 can look at that thing and not know what it is. Therefore, the baker did this for a reason.

October 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEileen

Oh. My. Word. That Ugly and disturbing.

October 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCheryl

Oh my. That is very disturbing and I agree that it appears to be made out of hot dog buns. I"ll never look at a bun the same after this.

October 27, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHW

In Australia, we'd call that a d1ckhead.
