What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

True Colors

You with the baaad eyes

Don't be discouraged!

Oh I realize

It's hard to read orders

In a shop full of people

Who drive you up a wall

And the bakers beside you

Can make you feel so small

But I see your TRUE COLORS

Writing through!

I see your TRUE COLORS

'Cuz that's how I write, too!

To let them flow

Your true colors

True colors are literal

Like a "stilleto"

And I'll see your TRUE COLORS

Causing "boo"s!

I see your TRUE COLORS

But don't let that stop you!

So don't be afraid!

To let them flow

Your true colors

True colors are "beautiful,"

Like this raaaainbow:

A big "thank you in puce" to Andrea P. Mark A., Caylin C., Darnie S., Lezlie S., Paula P., Andrea H., Christine F., & Lacey for today's colorful characters.

How does this keep happening? Do you think these people are doing it on purpose to get on this website? How can there be this many incredibly stupid cake decorators in the world? Or maybe Pee Jay is right, they're doing it on purpose to be jerks...but still, it amazes me the unending wealth of material you have. So please keep it coming it makes me laugh every day.

"with sprinkles" the stupidity of people just never gets old.

OMG! These are so funny! I work in a deli/bakery at a grocery store on a military base. Our cake order forms are set up so that these things do not happen. we have a seperate spaces for font color and what you want you want written. In addition we do not let our customers fill out the order form themselves. I am glad to say The decorators I have worked with over the past 3 years have never done any cakes that could be considered wrecks (if they did I would have sent you pics hehe)

This was an AWESOME post! Love, love, love your blog!

(I really wanted to type "you're" for giggles, but I just couldn't make my fingers do it.)

The pictures are, as always, hilarious! However, the Weird Al Yankovich-ish (not a real word until *NOW*) lyrics make the post. I felt the same way about your tribute to Celine Dione! Bravo!!!!

This is why the bakery I use writes down your cake order and then gives you a lancet to prick your finger and sign in blood, in three different places, to confirm that they have written the order correctly.

Not only did Andrea get sprinkles, she got inedible curly ribbon as well. Yum.

Did someone eat several bowls of different colored icing and then VOMIT all over that last cake??? EEEEYUCKKK!!!!

February 28, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNell

This reminds me of that internet picture that goes around where you read the color names. You know, "red" is written with purple and it's so hard to read the word when you see the color.

That's what this is like. Maybe. At least I think so. :-)

Whenever you have these types of posts I wonder why these wreckerators DIDNT have enough common sense to know that this was not part of the order. I REALLY REALLY hope that these people dont speak english, that might be the only case in which I could see how this could happen.

I just dont understand how this can happen and NOT A SINGLE PERSON QUESTIONS IT!!!!

@Sharyn- oh, great! Here I was trying to get in the swing of haikus (haven’t written a funny one yet) and now you’ve added limericks. (hangs head)

@Craig- YOU carry mauve. I’m not doing it- mauve smells.

#3- well, the sprinkly-type thingies were in purple…(this trying to see the bright side is really getting on my nerves).

#7- black icing on what might be a kids’ cake with weaping spermies. Seriously wrong!

#8 is Mick Jagger’s birthday cake and he only wants green & yellow M&Ms. The green is for (wink, wink) and the yellow are to help him pee (cause at his age it’s not easy). What? He LOOKS that old.

The best part is that I was here on CW just as one of the conestants on American Idol started singing this song, so I was totally able to follow along XD

I'm just happy that not all the balloons look like swimmers. That takes real talent. LOL ;)

You know what this site needs? One of those buttons which will link the page directly to the fans Facebook page. No copying of the URL required. But, I guess I'll do it the hard, old-fashioned way for now. This is just too funny not to share.

Haven't been on lately and saw the post where you were going to shut the blog down. I love this blog. I get busy and don't read for a bit, but this site is always guaranteed to make me laugh like a a good way! I hope you continue to post. Your sense of humor brightens my day! :)

Ben & Wylie?

Let me go ask Mauve.............

February 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKnittedbooties

I wonder if I ask for purple sprinkles if I will end up with mauve writing on my cake lol. I can't help but facepalm when I see these cakes. Honestly I would just give up ordering and make my own that way if I destroy the thing I can yell at myself lol.

February 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

I couldn't stop laughing. It just cracks me up the way people's minds work. On the other hand, I would not even begin to be able to bake a cake let along get the writting correct. That is why I work with chrildren.

February 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTerrie

Love the fact that even thought they've got it written down, every cake has the wrong coloured writing - you'd think at least one of them would match!

February 29, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterfidgetina

That first one looks totally photoshopped. I have to wonder if people are doing these things on purpose because of the popularity of Cake Wrecks. Because, I mean, they couldn't honestly be that stupid! Could they?

February 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAngie

Patti! "No H". That's it! hahaha I didn't even catch that! Oh, that makes it even funnier.

February 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCaren

Can anyone explain the "stilleto" to me, 'cause I don't get it. The others are unabashedly awful and obvious.

February 29, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermaryjf

At least Andrea's cake has nice penmanship. :D

February 29, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRachel H.

You know, I work in a "wreckery," we have to do sheet cakes with writing all the time. I can't think of one time where I even for one second thought to write the kind of stuff that shows up on these cakes. (I'm pretty sure the cakes have been wrecks in other ways, I'm actually surprised I haven't seen any of them on here.) Shoot, we even have one person who takes the orders in her own kind of short hand and I STILL know not to write "in red" on the cake! Where do they find these people???

March 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLiz

I showed the rainbow cake to my 7 yo son and he said it looked like someone had pooped on it.
