What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Star Wreckin' Across the Universe

Cakes, the final frontier.

These are the ravages of the Bakeshop...Wrecksurprise.

Its five tier mission:

To INVENT strange new words,

To SEEK OUT new strife,

To BOLDLY WRECK as no cake’s been wrecked before!

Actually, we see this kind of thing a lot.

Carry on!

OooOOOOooooh oh oh ohhhh!
Oh oooOOOOOO! oh oh oh oh ohhhhh!
Oh ohhh! Oh oh oh oh oh OH OH, OH!!
 (etc, etc.)

Thanks to Jessica C., Kynna G., Katie M., Yolanda, & Valerie K. for keeping failing frequencies open, and an extra special, super DUPER thanks to Sharyn, one of our all-time favorite commenters, for providing the brilliant commentary. Take a bow, Sharyn! LL&P!

"Our wedding cake is ruined! The Fallopian tubes look like staircases, and they've put the ovaries UNDER the uterus! Can't anyone do anything right?"

@Mary: How many Quinceanera cakes have a tiny plastic couple standing on top? And a man far to young to be her father cutting it? Nope. Looks like a wedding cake.

Wow! Did someone flood that that wedding cake with pepto bismal or what? Anyway I love Star Trek but I am from a younger generation. I like Catian Picard. lol Just kidding. I like the first generation as well. If we are pulling roles, I want to be an Alien from another planet that the captian always ends up kissing. Tee Hee Hee!

Ummmm...Am I the only one who sees a diagram of the female reproductive system in the first cake? I guess it's appropriate if it is supposed to be celebrating the transition to womanhood, but still not all that appetizing.

@ Mary

Except for the loving couple on the top tier, no?

Most days I feel like Mother Horta ... Just keep banging my head against stone walls and taken for granite.

Or one of Mudd's women ... not presentable until I've taken my caffeine shot.

The second one is even funnier when you realize that "roch" is German for "[he/she/it] stinks" :D

@KarateLady don’t feed the cats, tribbles or Klingons?

@Mary- you wish!! There’s a topper with a couple on it though I suppose she could’ve been getting married on her 15th birthday. (I’ve been watching WAAAAY to much “My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding” lately. Makes the MTV offerings seem tame, at times.)

@zoomom not to seem flippant but has he been tested for “taste?” Play “Muskrat Love,” offer him a lime green leisure suit with a white vinyl belt and show him a few episodes of “Love Boat.” If he thinks any of those are awesome then I’m afraid he fails…

@Sharyn (you knew this was coming) You freakin’ rock, lady!!

Did anyone else have to do a double take on that last cake?!?
The D (in Denise) looks an awful lot lot a P!!!!

May 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJen K.

I thought that "Denise" was some french version of "Penis" (the D looks like a P...or maybe that's just me...)

May 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLetitia

Dammit, Harold, now I can't un-see it! (You're awesome.)

Wow.. I cannot stop laughing at these scary cakes. Poor Anthony. He apparently has herpes and is a tool. Nice. What possesses people to make cakes like this? Other than having someone smash them in their faces lol. I kinda liked Denise's cake. It was pretty.

OK...I just went to an OB-GYN appt, so maybe this was already in my head, but that first one (the pink wedding cake) kind of looks like a female reproductive system to me...uterus, fallopian tubes, etc...Is this just me?

May 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBethy

No, @Bethy, it isn't just you. My visual interpretation system tried desperately not to go there, but was forced ultimately to concede the point.

Perhaps it was their subtle way of telling everyone in the universe, "we REALLY want kids," in which case they should purchase a breeding pair of goats without delay.

May 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCraig

breeding pair of goats!!! that was my first giggle/snort of the day. ty, Craig!

Dear Barbara Anne,

If you were a *Trekker*, you wouldn't have to ask! :-)

and 2nd, "Dammit, Jim! I'm a doctor, not a grammarian!"

Heck, I'm not even a doctor, I only have a Master's! (In Genetics, not English...)

May 13, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKarateLady

Zoomom, lol. Matt, I thought of that too. Anyone watched Star trek: the Animated Seiries? *Shudder* Cause thats what happened to these cakes. (FUN FACT: Star Trek the Animated Seiries is from the creators of He-Man and She-Ra. IT EXPLAINS SO MUCH.)
