What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

A Mary Sing-Along

(In case you need a refresher:)

Can’t the wreckerators tell when something looks atrocious?

This is not a cake that would be served by any hostess!

So many times when I buy cakes I find it quite absurd

How often bakery frosting can look like a pile of turds

Or oozing sores…

 or vomit piles…

or glistening, ruptured spleens

I just want a dessert that won't turn all of my guests green!

Can’t the wreckerators tell when something looks atrocious?

This is not a cake that would be served by any hostess

Awesome awesome awesome version of that song! Of course it is now forever ruined (along with many a Christmas songs) but totally worth it. I just pray that every time I sing this new and improved version that I am not seeing the images that goes along with it!

the last one looks like a tiki in a grass skirt- there's two indentations for eyes, a bump of a nose and a frowny mouth!! No, I didn't intend to look that closely but it actually helped.

@mel and Sharyn I do so love you both!

I just watched PB last night so "to the pain" OR "inconceivable." Either one works.

@RPainter OR is Weird Al the person Sharyn allows to take all public credit so she can enjoy a private life, hmmmm?

I dunno, I think those things on the 'spleen' look more like pretty bird's eggs...

Yeah, it's just a big bird's nest! To be precise, a bird's nest with dunnock, grey heron, song thrush, sedge warbler and great skau eggs in- my Grandpa the bird expert'd love that cake. (Yeah, I Google'd them.)

Barbara Anne -- I feel the same way about you. That's one of the great thing about Cake Wrecks -- I know all these wonderful people I've never actually met. (I still think we should plan "Wreck*Con," though...)

@Barbara Anne -- you are soooo kind, and you make me blush, and you know that you are loved in return in a Cake Wreck family, non-stalking kind of way....also...I have to agree with Sharyn -- it is so wonderful to have so many "invisible" friends here, but I secretly wish we could all get together for dinner....can you imagine just how much fun that would be!

I *knew* Sharyn wrote this as soon as I saw it! She's got some serious talent!

Ah, Barbara Anne, that is a slightly wicked conspiracy theory. I like it. It's true that you never see Sharyn and Weird Al together.

#7 would almost be pretty... Except it is decorated with Easter egg spleens. Yucko.
