What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

You Gonna Eat That?

It's Clean Out Your Fridge Day, my friends, and I, the Queen of Unidentifiable Food Objects, am here to guide you through it.

STEP ONE: Purchase celebratory "Clean Out Your Fridge Day" cake.

Fortunately, wreckerators have provided us with LOTS of options. For example:

I think it used to be a hot dog.

No worries; just scrape that into a bowl and get me a straw. [eyebrow waggle]

Welp, looks like the ants are about done with it. Your turn.

So which is worse: corn chips in chocolate icing or refried beans on a cake?
Inquiring minds want to know.

Please don't let those be tongues.

I demand to see Life's manager.

STEP TWO: Now that you've acquired your "Clean Out Your Fridge Day" cake, it's time to open the door to your refrigerator. Don't be afraid, now. Go on!

(By the terrifyingly talented Debbie Does Cakes)

STEP THREE: Slam the door and just eat out for the rest of your life.

Thanks to Amy S., Ashley A., Kelly S., Charisse O., Melissa T., Sarah B., & Modee, who would like to remind everyone that it is ALSO National Recycling Day, but, no. Just... NO.

@ HaikuJoy, Sharyn and SirLaffsalot OMG!!! ROFL, excellent punnishness rules CW!

I got confused with the lemon cake, I didn't see the whole "lemon" thing at first, then after reading some comments, of course...then I did a forehead palm and a OOOhhh, I see now! LIFE, okay, makes sense.
Truly great artwork on the chicken leg maggot, but yes, we need to put the Unsee Machine into mass production right away.

*looks at that last one again*

I'm so desensitized, all I can think is how amazingly true to life that is.

Hello! Sorry, I was too busy watching the escapades of Batkid in SF to comment today. Go BATKID!!! :-) Jen, you might need to 'bank' some bat cake pics cuz apparently Nov 15th will now always be known as BatKid day (at least in San Francisco)...

Oh man that last one was way too realistic lol. A talented baker and I do wonder how the little maggots were made. Rice maybe. My brain is functioning barely after looking at these things especially the melted ice cream cake and that too happy lemon thing.

Thanks for the reminder--we need to clean out the refrigerators here at work. I sent them a picture of that last one as a show-and-tell. That will turn a few stomachs!

#6: this is a character from the bootleg ROM-hack game "When Pac-man met Frogger".......
" 'woppa woppa! woppa woppa woppa!!' 'Waitress? I'll have what he's having' "

Did anyone else put on Weird Al's "livin' in the fridge" for this post?

@Karate Lady: I've been following the story on that sweet, precious little "Batman" boy, too...I'm so glad that it was a nice day for him. It "rained" where I am, if you get my drift... :'-}

After reading the comments it seems everyone thought the ant cookie was a melon (?)
My first thought upon seeing it was a moldy pizza. Or diseased.......a bubonic pizza (?) 0_o

Perfect examples of why it is sometimes good to eat in the dark. I just know I'm going to have a maggot dream tonight.

I am SO glad I waited until after dinner to look at this...

Either my eyes are playing tricks, or those way-too-realistic maggots are squirming!

No, not tongues. I think, Banana Slugs. I don't know why there would be Banana Slugs on a God Bless You cake, but maybe someone sneezes something that looks like Banana Slugs. It could happen.
