What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Because Everything's Better With The Muppets

It's time to bake the music,

It's time to write the slights!

It's time to make some carnage,

At the bakery tonight!

[bahdum dum dum]

It's time to put on makeup,

It's time to dress up right,

By the incredibly talented Say it with Cake!

It's time that we departed,

It's not for the fainthearted,

Oh boy I bet that smarted!

On the least sensational,

This is what we call the Cake Wrecks Shooooooow!

Thanks to Brianna S., Kate, Stacy F., Vanessa M., Shakera, & Anna I. for the ear worm. And also for getting the Muppet song stuck in our heads.

And now, a little palate cleanser:

Isn't the Godzilla/T-Rex cake made from Wilton Megasaurus shape pan (which is no longer available to purchase from them)? And actually quite well done too.

The toejam cake really does not need to exist and I want to meet a smelly pirate hooker.

thought I had the idea behind the hippo, she'saying "hey baby, you HORNY?",,,but darnit that's a RHINO that has a horn so I'm at a loss...nicely done though

Egad! What happened to the TARDIS?

Thanks for the palate cleanser. That was necessary after some of those cakes.

That hippo looks very Meet the Feebles-y.

June 28, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterHilary

That hippo is terrifyingly awesome!

June 28, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJodee

The hippo is from Meet the Feebles! If you think that's messed up, you'd better not watch the movie. ;)

I think the word is supposed to be "PRIVATE," not "pirate." They just screwed-up the smelling--er, SPELLING. Hey-it makes way more sense than "pirate" does!
YO HO HO and a bottle Yeah, let's say rum.

That's no T-Rex! That's a Sleestack from the old Land of the Lost TV series. Without its horn. Yeah. And with yellow contacts. *nods*

The baker for the hippo cake is - and she does very brilliant work!

@Karate Lady:
We don't have an A&P in my state at all. We used to, back in Colonial times...I miss it. For some reason that I never, ever understood, the inside of that A&P store smelled like pickles. Dill pickles. ALL of the time. Man, the things you remember when you're really not trying to... and when they have nothing whatEVER to do with what someone else was talking about!...((Sigh!)) Funny little world, isn't it, now? =^u.u^=

"Hey, hippos don't have..."

I know--YOU were gonna say, "Hippos don't have FINGERS," weren't you! Right? RIGHT??? =^-.-^=

June 28, 2013 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

The Hippo cake is straight out of Peter Jackson's fine movie: Meet the Feebles, which is a lewd parody of the cheerful Muppets.

Just run a google Images search with "Heidi Meet the Feebles" and you'll know what I mean.

June 28, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterTerry O

Yep, #5 has to be a Meet the Feebles reference, right?

I'm thinking that Cake 3 was transported in a vehicle that looked like the car CCC. The toe jam cake is perhaps celebrating the recovery of someone who recently learned the life lesson: Do not use the lawnmower while wearing flip-flops.

@sendingtheclowns - Kennon was my late father's middle name, as well as his father's. At least its easy to spell and pronounce.

Omigosh I miss the Muppet Show SO much! Good memories. :)

June 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterJeanne

Lol I adore the muppets. I think that was one of the rare occasions when Gonzo's trumpet actually worked. How I miss that show. Off to Netflix to try and get it lol. As for that last cake.. yikes..

June 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

Say what you like, that hippo is really well done.

June 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterBea

The only truly disturbing thing about the S&M Hippo Cake, which is completely awesome, is how many of you freaks know "Meet the Feebles"! I thought of that movie for a moment, shuddered, then decided not to comment on it because none of you would get it. And look at, just look at you... buncha freaks, the lot o' yas. And that's what I come here for.

Your Pal,

I am SO sorry--One of these days, maybe I'll think before I open my big, virtual mouth. I feel terrible. I almost "want" to think that it's the early-onset presenile dementia talking, but I could just be an idiot. I don't know HOW many times my parents said to us kids,"If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all!" I remembered that after the horse was out of the barn, here. I'll try harder. :-(

Back again! Some how missed giving a shout-out to SuBee. Had to come back & correct that oversight...And to add a shoutout to SaraCVT (giggle-snort!) and whomever it was that mentioned the Sleestak! They were almost as scary as the dinosaurs! :-)

PS to Jenna - I dunno, Stadler & Waldorf could get kinda mean @ times whereas Jen & John & Company have never done that. Not to mention, I don't think Jen has bushy white eyebrows or is going bald & neither is John (whew!) :-)

Hello Bakers! Who bakes the cake, bakes for the world! But bad news everyone 'cause guess who?! Except you lot, 'cause you're all using the mixers, it's really very distracting, so could you all just stay still a minute because, I AM TALKING!

Now the question of the hour is, "Who baked this cake?" Answer: "You did." Next question: "Why did you do such a bad job?!" Come on! Look at you! No plan! No backup frosting! No pipers worth a damn, oh, and something else you don't have, brains! So, you're sitting there with your silly little mixer, with all your silly little pipers, and you've got any plans on making a good cake, just remember what's standing in your way! Remember every black day that you ever made a bad cake, and then, AND THEN, do the smart thing!

Let another baker try first.

I just watched a couple of the Muppets sequences, and I'll be back for more((BIG "SIGH"!!!)). I'd forgotten how much I loved those critters--ALL of them! I watched them when my oldest kids were very young. Even my Mom & Dad got a kick out of the Muppets. Sweet, sweet, genius. Thanks, guys. =^u.u^=

Good call, BA. I will join you in that SQUEE! And thank you for not scarring my kids, though I'm not sure they're considered 'young' anymore... (they're 9 & 13:-)

#7 is definitely a Gorn cake and actually quite faithful to the quality of the costume back in the day. As such, I wouldn't call it a wreck.
