What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Droning It In

Ever wish that a fully decorated cake would just fall into your lap? Well now, thanks to unmanned drone technology, IT CAN.

That's right, a bakery in Shanghai, China recently began using drones to deliver their cakes. DRONES, you guys. Flying drones.

This may be the most brilliant creation ever invented, my friends. In fact, I'm suddenly feeling a lot less bitter about my lack of hoverboards and self-lacing sneakers. Flying robots delivering cake? Never mind, future: I'M GOOD.

Plus, drone-dropped cakes are great for so many occasions! You know, like:

New Years:

Mother's Day:

... and baby showers!

Even small orders will get that special "droned in" touch:

Oh, and can't forget The Big Day!

Not to worry; I'm sure that'll spring right back...

Yes, my friends, the future is finally here, and the future is good. A little smooshed, sure, but good - and I, for one...

What's that, you say?

China has GROUNDED the cake drones? Because the cakes might fall on someone or whatever?

Ok, I take it back.

Thanks to Jessica S., Karra A., Lindsay S., David P., Seanna B., Rachel O., Jessy A., & Jessica R. for dropping by.

Those would not last long around here. I live in a strong gun culture state and those things would make good target practice, especially by folks who might think they were black helicopters.

Hey, mel~ I've got a "yeast" joke, too: The sun rises in the yeast, and ...
Aw, I'm not going to take up any more of your time, because you probably already know the west....

Sorry, most of these aren't wrecks.. they're the result of poor handling on customers part. The first three were probably just plopped into a cart (the 3rd actually flipped onto it's lid) and the rest damaged during delivery or setup. Nice try, tho.

That's... amazing. Really too bad they were grounded. I mean, I get the safety issues and all, but come on... CAKE DELIVERED BY DRONES! How cool is that?!

You need to check out the song "Dear Science" by Seth Sentry. Has a few rude words so NSFW but very funny and awesome song about science's lack of hoverboard creation.

Her butt is to the left. Her legs (of which only the right is visible) extend to the right. Her torso is horizontal above them. . . It looks like a hideously uncomfortable position for any adult other than a gymnast or a contortionist to hold for any length of time. Kids, OTOH, do that sort of thing for fun.

Aw, DRAT! No chance of unexpected cake surprise from the heavens? I guess I'll just take my empty cake plate and go inside. Really, how mad would you be if CAKE fell on you? As long as it's still edible... : - d It's better than that blue toilet ice that falls from airplanes!

If drones airlifting cakes is too dangerous for people on the ground then injured people shouldn't be airlifted by dangling below a helicopter because they would die if something happened to the harness and kill other people they fell on.
