What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Truth In Advertising

Bakers, in today's lagging economy the race to earn customers' hard-earned dollars is on. So how can you stay ahead of your competition? With tasteful, quality display-cakes, that's how.

Yep, you want displays that draw people in. Displays that show off your skills. Displays that say, "Hey, we're a modern, 'with-it' bakery that knows just how to relate to today's generation."

"You see, kids, there once was a time when phones had cords on them."

You also want cakes that show you take your job seriously:

And that your figure modeling is second-to-none:

HA. HA. HA."

But also some that show you aren't lacking in the crazy department:

"Proud to be the only bakery that offers large chocolate grenades in our 'Peeps VS Bobble-Heads Soccer Match in the Desert of Doom' design - now with random Rugrats!"

Jasmine D., Erin F., Lisa M., Sarah N., & Maren J., can you spot the grenade?

IY,YiYi!! That person on the phone on the 2nd cake looks positively like a NON-teen-girl (and more like, maybe, a 30's-something linebacker?). Is it safe to assume that~Oh, let's call her "Babs"~is supposed to be the stereotypical, "60's-style "Spunky-Teen-Girl-Who's-Always-Yakking-On-The-Phone-And-Who-Also-Has-Feet-As-Big-As-Her-FACE?" Is THAT what they were shooting for? And as long as we're talking "size", I might as well borrow a phrase from Woody Allen to point out that Babs' phone is "as big as a Buick".
A-yup; that's mah gurl... =^e.e^=

Lol just when you think you have seen it all...the grenade on the soccer field looks just like a yummy See's Easter egg lmao. I would gladly eat at least that part of the cake. Spare the kids the danger of it hehe. As for the rest of these cakes.. all I can say is what on earth are they thinking??

"bubububBenny andthe Jets...!"~ Okay, I'm back (just off on my other planet for a bit) I was searching for the right music "score" for my new movie, due out in two-thousand-never...Sir Elton is at the top of the list, for now. Maybe I'll use Goodbye, Fellow Sick Toad, unless Theardare prefers the Boomtown Rats =^-.-^= ...that Non-Barbie cake BETTER be chocolate~ there HAS to be ONE saving grace somewhere there, or I don't know what...!

That first cake is all Wicked Witch of the West. "I'm melting! Melting! Oh the humanity!"

Aw, I missed out on the festivities ! Happy belated birthday, Craig! (Theardare was supposed to remind everyone! See if he gets any catnip this week from me!) =^-.-,^=
In honor of the occasion, I'm wearing a cake in your general direction. !!!Ta-DA!!! (I didn't know your favorite flavor, so I made the one called "variety")

No prob, Sending. It's the thought that counts. No, really.

All you 'guys' went ahead and made my day.

@Craig ~ Did you find them on YouTube? I've recently been catching up on my cartoons and reliving my childhood Saturday mornings. I listen to Pandora at work and am continually amazed at how many of the songs I recognize simply from cartoons! Yep, even the one... you know. Dun dadaaa dun dun, dun dadaaa dun... <~~~ I'm not going to tell you how long it took me to figure out how to write that o.O

@Sending ~ Food fight at your house??? I'm in!

The doll looks like it is trying to escape from the first cake. While some might be wondering why the phone has a cord I'm trying to figure out what the girl has in her hand. A chicken leg perhaps. Weirdly I like the aliens sitting on the cake.

@Jodee: Uh...Look: I think that kind of thing is wasteful and silly. And juvenile. And frat-house-y. And a waste of perfectly good food, when there are starving people all over the...
Oh, what the--
BUT you ARE going to help clean up- You hear? =^~.-^=

Congrats on fifteen years. That is a major accomplishment. So many don't go as well, sadly.
Love the variety of cakes featured in your photos. Very creative.
Thanks for sharing.

Let's see... On the last cake I see chicks, bobblehead figures, soccer balls, Misty, Gary Oak, ?, ?, and a delicious chocolate grenade.

The two figures sitting on the cake are cute. Let's see you do better.

Number 2 wasn't actually bad - I'd love to see that baker drawing.

I thought the two women were dead.

You know, I actually didn't see this post until way after it went up, but believe me... that phone cake is EXACTLY what you'd see in Portland for an ironic hipster teen birthday. It's like riding a unicycle on the Worst Day of the Year Bike Ride with a ukelele strapped to your back.
