Good Ol' Reliable Rex

How's this for a strange Monday, eh, minions? I mean, I'm always an anti-social hermit holed up with my cats and snacks, but this may be new territory for you lot. So on behalf of all anti-social introverts who work from home, allow me to just say... Welcome.

And listen, don't you worry. Whether you're spending extra time chilling at home or off scavenging Mad Max style for your neighborhood's last roll of toilet paper, some things never change.

Like the fact that you could ask your baker for "Happy March Birthdays" in a St. Patrick's theme... and get this:

GO TEAM

And while you're at it:

Dion+Har-ow-go+irish.jpg

You know what they say, once you go Irish.... you... look... delish?

 (I don't know, I panicked. WHAT.)

Some of you were worried they'd run out, but never fear:

Green snake bread is here.

(The fact that it's displayed with the Guinness seems to be a commentary of some sort...)

Also here? Whatever these are:

And whatever this means:

GO U! I think. Is it a U? And why the middle cupcake? What is happening here? You know what, maybe we need Guinness with these, too. Better safe than sorry.

So remember, minions, today may be a bit strange, but you can always rely on the comforting snuggles of pets, the love of your family and friends, the vast beauty of untamed nature around you...

... and the fact that bakers will just never get the rainbow right.

Thanks to Erica L., Dion H., Emma D., Renee B., Jocelyn T., & Lindsay W. for the wrecky rainbow(?) connection.

It's no leprechaun, but I found another green magical creature who is WAY cuter:

Miniature Terrarium Dragon

This bitty dragon is SO CUTE, omigosh - and the comment reviews on Amazon are full of sweet little fairy gardens! I think I'd put her on my monitor, though, so I could look at her all day.

And new on my other blog, Epbot:

12 Wow-Factor Wedding Cakes

I scroll through hundreds of gorgeous cakes every week, and after 10+ years it can be tough to find 10 or 11 to fit a specific theme each Sunday. So this week, my only requirement? Wedding cakes that made me say "WOW."

Starting with this sweet and airy Art Deco number:

(Amanda Earl Cake Design, UK )

It reminds me of stained glass!

And on the other end of the spectrum:

(Very Unique Cakes, New Jersey)

Ohhh, now this one is like red smoke.

I can't get enough of this color combo:

(Immaculate Confections, UK)

Navy, lavender, teal, and berry. SO GOOD.

Here come more rich berry and fuchsia tones:

(Lima Cakes, international instructor)

I love that tiny thread of gold around the edges.

At first glance I thought this next one was Haku, the dragon in Spirited Away:

(Artisan Cake Company, as featured here)

Once I realized it's actually a sugar glass spray of water, I was even more impressed! Incredible.

You don't see orange and black together much outside of Halloween, but this beauty makes a strong case for it:

(Tomima)

A definite WOW.

The tile on this mosaic seems to be floating up and apart, which is such a dreamy effect:

(Sweet Heather Anne, Michigan)

And this one looks like a thickly textured oil painting come to life:

(The Cocoa Cakery, Ontario)

Gorgeous.

Check out this contrasting wave of watercolor silk:

(Fluffy Thoughts Cakes, Virginia)

So many of these are more like sculpture than cake!

Over here I see a whirlwind of angel wings:

(Cakes By Mannix, location)

You can almost hear them fluttering, right?

I didn't realize how much I love rich metallics and mossy greens 'til I saw this:

(Sandra Draskovic, Peru)

Oooh. I want a dress like this!

And finally, a purple gem fit for a Queen:

(Kek Couture, Turkey)

WOW.

I hope these brought some Sweetness to your Sunday!

That last topper reminds me of a gilded jewelry box, so I went looking for the prettiest one I could find on Amazon:

Feyarl Vintage Jewelry Box

It also comes in red!
