Sunday Sweets For My Wedding Anniversary!! And I Guess Yours, Too, John

This week John and I will be celebrating our... ::squints:: ::does math in my head:: twenty-second wedding anniversary?! Dang. I guess getting married when we were pre-teens really payed off! (Of course I'm only 32. Shhh. STOP DOING THE MATH.)

The past 8 or 9 years we've been in Atlanta for Dragon Con each anniversary, so we've counted that as our celebration. After all, nothing says "we're in this for the long haul" like filming a 3AM dance party with Gandalf in fishnets, a Spartan conga line, and enough inflatable dinosaur costumes to form their own bouncy house. The couple that cosplays together, stays together.

Of course this year will be different, no matter how many inflatable T-Rex costumes I buy. So I thought I'd go looking for some sweet anniversary cakes to show John.

 I can't remember the last time I featured a basic sheet cake here on Sweets, but this one (which was for a 60th wedding anniversary) is really darn cute:

So John does all the cooking for us, but one of the few things I can actually make that he loves are my toasted PB&Js. So this is perfect!

Anyone who still has a functioning Facebook account can tell you the internet is why we NEED self-care most days.

Remember when graduation cakes were a thing, because there were actual people at actual parties?

Aw, those were the days. The "Gradulating" days.

Now all we do is sit at home and watch video compilations where everything is cake. Have you seen these things? Where someone cuts into a can of soup or a tennis shoe that you'd SWEAR was the real thing, but then it's actually cake?

Hang on, I'll show you what I mean:

I mean, you shouldn't.

It's not.

BUT THIS IS:

Anyway, my point is, life online right now is like one of those game shows where you choose a door for your prize, except behind every door there's a giant pile of poop.

No, but it's like, judgmental poop.

And it's yelling at you.

Yeah. Like that.

So in conclusion, the best way to celebrate Internet Self-Care Day... is to get off the internet. Go color with your kids, or get take-out with your SO, or just crash on the couch and binge the next season of Glow-Up on Netflix, because AW YEAH THAT'S OUT NOW. (John and I are up to episode 4, DING DONG, BABY.)

And just to be safe, maybe start poking everyday objects to make sure they're not cake.
