What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

I VOTE AMERICA

If this blog has taught us anything, it's that a dead dog with a flag nailed to its head is a symbol of PATRIOTISM.

And what do patriots do?

They let freedome ring!!

With liberty and Justine for all!

(Don't worry; Justine got a cake out of it.)

 (See?)

So, my fellow Americans, if YOU love this country..

(Plus a large chunk of Canada...)

...and if you believe in Stars and Strips forever:

 (Woo woo!)

...plus monkeys wearing flag togas:

[crickets chirping]

...then get out there and buy some election cookie cakes!

You'll know them because they're the ones with the word "election" written on them:

Do it for the bakers.

Do it for your country, the good ol' SUA:

And do it because your vote counst:

...as long as you're not voting for literacy.

Thanks to Holly F., Dawnan H., Karen B., Dana S., Russell A., Carol S., Elizabeth J., Ryan H., Carol G., & Lillian J. for the reminder that tomorrow we can FINALLY switch from griping about campaign commercials to griping about who won the election. YAY POLITICS.

Is it just me, or do the specific shades of red and blue at the top of the "Stars and Strips" cake look disturbingly like Aquafresh Toothpaste?

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLittleLou

Some of these cakes look as appetizing as some of our local candidates.

When will the "No Baker Left Behind" act come into effect again?

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSuzanne

I was just on my way out to the polls when I stopped by for some inspiration.
Now with a full heart, I will strip and wave my stars as I service this great land of ours.
Gdo Bless the SUA.

Jen, John, all of the Cakewrecks staff: Thank you for servicing your readers. My co-worker and I had a hearty guffaw at today's cakes.

Sung to “I’m a Yankee Doodle Dandy”

Keep a couple Advil handy
For puppies on Election Day
Today we finally let our freedome ring
Justine's busy, I daresay.

She’s our patriotic sweetheart
Servicing our country her own way
Even those in other countries
Really won’t be lonely
Loving the good ol’ USA.

Stars and strips will last forever
But toga monkeys end today
So buy election cookies while you can
Here in the S. U. of A.

It’s time to go and cast your ballot
So they can counst your vote today
All the campaign ads are ending
I approve that message
It makes my Yankee Doodle day!

I have never felt so proud of my county (and part of Canada) in my life. Tomorrow, I am scheduled to start griping about early Christmas decorations, thank you very much.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLindaS

The Thank you for servicing our country cake looks like it really needed to be on a cake from yesterday ;) and that looks like a Pig monkey with a smiling nose.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKristen

I need very little prompting to purchase a cookie cake. Writing "ELECTION" on one for election day would be enough of a reason for me (I bought one on opening day last year because it looked like a baseball...and our team wasn't even playing that day).

Deep squats monkey knows
where his towel is . . . and isn't.

The monkey... I Fear the monkey.

DON'T LOOK DIRECTLY AT IT.

Blue Zombie Flag Dog wins this one for me.

The cake with "Justine" made me spit soda out. Seriously...how funny! I love, love, love this blog.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMellissa Rose

Bwahahaha, I am proud to be amerken :P Sharyn and Haiku joy I wave my banner at you both XD

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

What about those who'd rather have a Justin?

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

Justine...during her recent activities, voter polls spontaneously popped up everwhere...and all agreed she should be honored for her patriotic work in causing voters to rise up nationwide....
@SuBee...thank you for your service...
@Sharyn: spp
@Kristen...my thoughts, too...
@Haiku Joy...gives "monkee business" a new meaning.....

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermel

Portraying the circle of life, the baker made sure to add little black bugs to the dead dog cake.

I think 'Stars & Strips' is the name of the monkey's peep show.

That last one looks like either 'c-o-u-r-n-s-T' or 'c-o-u-m-s-T'. I think it's code for "If you plan on voting, wear comfortable shoes in case you have to wait in line."

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAndrea

GOOOOO SUA! We Rcok!

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMimiheart

Maybe the SUA cake was supposed to be a a monogram? You know, like sUa? Yeah...i think I might be reaching a bit on that one...

As for the rest, I have no idea. Blue poodle of doom, indeed!

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTiffany

Servicing our country... I guess today is National Streetwalker Day! Even hookers like cake. :-D

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBecky

OMG the "Servicing our Country" just about made me pee myself ;) LOL!

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKim Ranjbar

And this is why we need to vote for candidates who will support education. A LOT of education.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJulie

Wait!! What's that I am hearing?? That rumbling, earth-churning, thumping sound 6 feet or so down in the ground???

My blue-haired 3rd grade Spelling teacher rolling over and over in her grave!!!!

Back in the day we had paddlings in my school and I believe these wreckorator misspellings would mandate a major walloping with a size 13 Converse tennis shoe! Yes, that is why our principle used, a size 13 Converse tennis shoe which made many a tough young man cringe at the thought . . . and afterwards grab their backsides. LOL!!!

Of course, after the fact, we would be having to look at Converse tennis shoes made out of cup cakes . . . or penis cake pans . . . . or Pan-Wow pans . . . .

It's the big one 'Lizbeth, I'm comin' to greet ya!!! ;-P

Someone loves the USA, a large chunk of Canada AND a blob of Mexico - Vive
Los Wreckerators or something like that.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commentergobbler

I mis-read the cookie cake, thought it said Erection (what does that say about me, I wonder?)

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDegera

The top cake must be for the Blue Dog (fill in the party here)s. For the voter who will elect a blue dog as long as they have a D/R by his name. The fact that he's dead is a bonus.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterPaula

I don't care what's written on that doughnut -- I will eat it.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJohn Daniel

@SuBee ~ Are you going to post pictures somewhere of that? ;-)
@Sharyn ~ I'm finding a way to add that to my vocabulary today. Thanks for the inspiration!

And while I appreciate the thought of all the folks servicing our country, I think I'll just stick to voting!

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJodee in WA

I hate to break this to you all, but tomorrow marks the beginning of the 2016 campaign. Sad but true. Yesterday I even received a robo-call asking me who I would vote for in my state's upcoming Gubernatorial election- to be held in 2014. (No, I'm not kidding. They even had a list of 6 potential candidates for me to choose from. Since I've been too busy paying attention to who is running this time, I had only heard of 3 of them and have no idea which ones are even remotely qualified.) Unfortunately politics never end.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRikki

"Liberty & Justine for All"sounds like the name of a fabulous burlesque and/or drag show - i'm picturing red white and blue tassles, sparklers, the works

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJill

I don't get the Election cookie joke.

If the USA donut was in monogram format, wouldn't it be uAs? LOL!

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCarol

Justine's actually a serial murderer, and she started with that poor little blue dog.

Or maybe she's a Necromancer, and that blue dog was her first, failed, attempt at raising the dead.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBadKarma

After the passing of Sandy, Annie Warbucks adopted Blue.

Blue didn't last as long.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNyperold

Rikki, if anyone sponsors a bill to limit campaigning within each state to four weeks prior to the primary and six weeks prior to the national election, I will donate to their campaign no matter what party they belong to. Heck, I might even kiss them!

I could have done without the monkey's business this evening. Wreckarator, what WERE you THINKING?

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTXRed

is it just me or does that monkey look oddly like Barack Obama..?

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMicalah

It is time Justine received the recognition she so richly deserves for her role in promoting huge elections. As a proponent of early voting, for years, every day for the two or so weeks before the election she would head out to service voters, encouraging them to put their ballots in her ballot box. And because she was so knowledgeable about the in’s and out’s of the process, people were interested in her thoughts, and she was polled again and again daily. She had time for everyone, regardless of the size of their poll, and welcomed their input. People from all parties sought her out, and never one to avoid a sticky situation, she welcomed all comers. (She would also assist other surveyors, and often handle their polls.) Then, at the end of the day, she would return home, clean out her ballot box from the day’s deposits and get ready for the next day. Her tireless devotion is the stuff that makes the S.U.A. great! Thank you, Justine!

I spent six hours today sorting 280 pounds of candy we collected in our Halloween Candy Buy Back. This candy will be sent to troops overseas to thank them for "servicing" our country. But I forgot to ask for donations of "Justine"! And can I send Justine overseas, anyway?

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTLC

Only watching the coverage tonight to see who makes the "erection night" blooper.

November 6, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkhereva

My daughter (age 3 1/2) loves all of your posts, because she loves to look at cake. As I scroll down the page, she will name them: "Dog cake! Flag cake! Word cake! Other flag cake!" She doesn't judge their worth... she only knows they are cake. Thanks for giving us both a lot of laughs.

November 7, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEnid

That dog with the flag on the head was Prophetic!

November 7, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterdrumnate

It's okay Canada, we seem to have traded Maine to you for that chunk of Lower Ontario.

November 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDarkmoon

You know, I've always kinda been upset with my parents for giving me a name that is, without fail, NEVER on those name keychains and other trinkets.

Today, though... yeah, I'm still not appreciating it all that much. I am NOT for all, and no, TLC, please don't send me overseas. My dogs will miss me.

November 12, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJustine

The first cake looks like a blue Jake from Adventure Time.. or is it FInn?

December 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAnon

In Romania, USA is translated and then re-abbreviated SUA. Maybe the donut decorator is Romanian?
