What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Rah Rah Wreckage

You guys, I figured it out: these cupcakes hold a secret code.

See if you can crack it before the migraine sets in:

HINT: It's starts with the word "gone."

And here's a lesson on the importance of proper punctuation placement:

"GO!! Giants. Just... just go."

[adjusting belt and swaggering over drunkenly] "SO, football field cake. Are you gonna FIGHT? Or are you just too YELLA?"

Well, alrighty then.

Uh-oh. Look out, other foods! The wreckage is coming for you!

Although this does bring a whole new meaning to "paper or plastic."

As in, "What am I eating? Paper or plastic?"

An ode to the power of positive thinking:

Suuuure you will. Although, considering that you're a cookie cake with crappy handwriting, I think it'd be more *accurate* to say you'll be in the:

I'm telling you, guys, the annual misspelling of "Super Bowl" to "Super Bowel" never gets old. Trust me.

"Go, Super Bowel! Go, Go, GO!"

Thanks to Emily H., Timothy G., Andrea U., Laura H., Pon T., Val H., & Erin E. for those moving words of encouragement.

Pizza prints... For the love of all that's holy, why???? It's not enough they wreck our cakes, now they've got to wreck our pizzas too?

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGinger

I could have used that last one after my colonoscopy yesterday - after not eating anything for 48 hours, I was starving! And yes, it was a good bowel. Perhaps even a super bowel!

I love you, Haiku Joy.

That's Craptacular!

On Pizza Prints - maybe looks okay on a cheese pizza, but what about a meat lover's supreme" or even a simple pepperoni? you could really ruin someone's appetite. lol Thanks Jen, always and forever.

"Super Bowel" kinda says all I think about football in the first place. I might have ordered that cake!

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterbeautigredoux

It's a bird! It's a plane! It's . . . Super Bowel! Do you think he wears a cape and tights? And I can just imagine what his powers are . . .

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMiranda

Isn't it Super Bowl XLVI anyway? Apparently last year's bowel was so super that they had to preserve it for posterity...

@Karyl, Ha! Your dad rocks! @Caroline B., you made me laugh out loud! Thanks!

And as for the poor soul that got the yellow football field cake, not only did you not get a beautiful green field, but it isn't even centered on the 50 yard line! Those wreckeractors need to get out more.

*facepalm* ... pizza prints?! And they used my beloved Colts for it ..... the shame ..

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAdriane

Oh, come on. I know I'm not the only one seeing 'pizza face' and other skin conditions on other body parts not fit to print. I'll take a Hail Mary Pass on that.

"By the way, apparently some are concerned about trademark infringement with using the words "Super Bowl", as I heard on the radio this morning you aren't supposed to call your festivities a "Super Bowl party"

OK, I love football (Go Raiders!)...and I love Disney. However, after a recent visit to Disneyland and the Disneyland Hotel, I have determined that the NFL is slowly modeling themselves after the Disney parks model which is: Charge for everything, they'll pay it, they'll love it". Is that bitter?? I don't mean it to be, but it dumbfounds me when entities like the NFL that make a gabillion dollars a year, try to take all the fun out of hosting a Super Bowl party. I think you're right, the stores are using Super Bowel because the NFL are being big......uh....ryhmes with curds!

As for the yellow cake, the first words to pop into my head were: yellow snow. The seconds words were: Ew, that's gorss.

On the commercial for Pizza Prints, it says that they have a "mild cheese flavor". Eeeeeew.

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBecca

WTF just WTF were they thinking??? Pizza prints???

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

That football in picture 2 would've flown further had it not had a tampon string attached.

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterwildmaven

I thought the one with the yellow letter said, "I will be in the super bow (exclamation, no point)." My 10yr old daughter is super-into hair bows right now so maybe I'm biased.

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered Commentergabsmom

Read the "words" of the first one as an Native American chant and it doesn't sound too bad.

February 1, 2012 | Unregistered Commentergabsmom

Arghhhhhhhhhhh I thought Pizza prints was a joke..well I don't want to know what they will think up next because nothing could be scarier than a print on pizza and the cupcakes that spell out a mystery message. Lol honestly I thought the cupcakes were telling me to go away and never watch the Super Bowel again lol.

February 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

The first one says go new England patriots!

February 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJenn

Haiku Joy, I will no longer read your posts until I've visited the ladies' room. I'm #1!!

I live in constant fear every January and early February that I will say "Super Bowel" in public. I work with some sports lovers and would never live it down. I think it fits and it never does get old.

@Karyl your father and my grandfather were related. Nice to meet you.

I now have a new abomination to outstrip New Coke, blue M&Ms and Golden Oreos. Respect. The. Pizza.

Super Bowel.....Ummmm......I'll take the soup?

February 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAndrea

Jen, I would just like you to know that while I was reading this post, I took an ill-advised sip of coffee, which promptly ended up spewing forth from my mouth onto my clothes AND MY COMPUTER.
So THANK YOU. Thank you so much.

February 4, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEmma

i found out the first code!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! it says GO NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS #1

February 5, 2012 | Unregistered Commentercakewrekluvva

Oh your hint was so mean. Thanks for the migraine! :)

February 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSammaMomma

GO!!! Giants are coming!'
I love the swooping of the football too. Someone is pretty good at getting a field goal... when the ball wasn't going to make it then it swooped up just in time!

February 15, 2012 | Unregistered Commenter?

I got it! Go New England Patriots
