We...... Need Your Help!
June 2, 2010 Hi Guys!
We've been tweaking some things here on the site recently in an attempt to improve load time and reduce glitches, but we're afraid this tweaking may have angered the tiki gods/gremlins/Blogger bogeys. And since every web browser presents a whole new fun set of complications, testing them all out is difficult.
That's where you come in.
Please, tell us in the comments if you had any problems loading, viewing or interacting with the site today. (This includes any RSS feed wonkiness.) In addition, if you don't mind, please let us know if your virus software or filters are blocking the site or any of the pictures. And remember, this is for posterity so, be honest.
Thanks, everyone!
Update: There are no images on this post and the link at the bottom of this post for Help for Haiti should not have an image either.
'Nother Update: Hey, Internet Explorer users! First of all, you really should be using a different browser. [grin] However, we know you don't all have a choice in the matter, so we're still working on getting all the IE kinks worked out. We'll update again when we've made more progress, but please be patient (and maybe try Firefox) in the mean time. Thanks!

For some reason the page is loading way slow and lagging today.
OMG, nothing but problems, I'm using IE, and it took me three tries to get in today, twice I had to shut down all my internet programs just to get out of your site!!!!!!
Loaded fine for me in Google Chrome with Windows XP. No problem seeing any images and it loaded very quickly.
I'm using Internet Explorer 7 and the load time is REALLY slow. I've never had a problem before.
Access was via RSS; no problems.
Loaded fast on Win XP with Firefox.
No issues in Firefox
Trend Micro posts a warning: oascentral.blogher.org blocked - unauthorized URL
I use explorer and both today and yesterday the site froze up on me while loading. This has not happened before.
I can open a new windo and try again but the frozen one is stuck until I reboot.

On a PC using IE 8 and everything looks good. However, I did not see a Hati link at the bottom that you mentioned in your update....
no problems here, now or ever. keep up the great work! i'm on a pc, using firefox.
This took a LOT longer than usual to load using Inert-net Exploder. All the pictures eventually loaded fine. And my RSS feed seemed just fine.
No problems here. Unless by problems, you mean baseball bats that resemble gentleman vegetables, or snowmen (the guy in the second row to the right, too) are flipping the bird to me.
Slow to load on chrome with a PC, but I can see everything once it loads
I'm on a Toshiba using Firefox (but not an RSS feed). Antivirus software is Trend Micro. Load times were slightly faster than normal (yay!) and there were no problems viewing the page or pictures.
I'm not having any problems at all. As some of the others said, the photos are even loading more quickly than they had been before and right now I'm using my HP netbook, which has only 2GB of memory. It's running Windows 7 and Firefox (whatever the number is of the latest one - I can't keep track!)
No problems today, but I have had some pictures not load in the past.
I am still not getting post titles on my blackberry curve.
Everything else looks the same to me. Load time is fine. I don't use RSS.
The titles don't show in column or page view. Very odd.
Alex
I'm running a high-end ASUS laptop with Windows 7(64) and firefox. No problems viewing, and the cake images still load even though I use the NoScript addon for security.
I'm using I.E. and Windows 7 and not having any problems.
On a PC laptop using Firefox. I first read of your post in my Bloglines reader (posted at almost 6 am)
Hope this helps. Oh! And using AVG Free as my AV.
Wonky bit when posting comment:
I always have to enter my password twice. Not the word verification or the email address, just the password.
I read your site at work and they have filters that prohibit the pictures from showing during "work" hours, but during lunch you are free and clear.
Hope this helps!
I've had no problems with your site. I use Safari.
Windows 7 OS and Firefox v.3.6.3
accessed through Cakewrecks.com
The only problem I noticed was when I click on "Choose the Cake Wrecks Cover!" (under More! More! More!) I get the error:
Page not found
Sorry, the page you were looking for in the blog Cake Wrecks does not exist.
I'm on right now, June 2nd at 1:11p CST - everything loaded, but it's all crammed to the left side of the screen!
Page load is VERY slow with IE7. once the page is loaded, scrolling is very difficult as well. Lots of starting/stopping.
We have Internet Explorer, and today's posting came up more quickly than usual. And funny as ever. Bowling pin, huh?
After 3 minutes I gave up trying to get the page to load completely. The post showed up fine but all the little pictures attached to the comments refused to load, the comments themselves appeared on rectangular blue backgrounds with white in between the sections - like the layer was off or something, and my browser actually froze several times while trying to scroll through the comments- to the point of me starting to open task manager to shut it down. I'm using IE8 and Win7, and I know I'm in the minority as an IE user, however if I had been a new person to the site I would have closed it and not returned. I always use google reader to read the blog itself and have no problems.
Everything came up great in my google reader- normal as usual!
I have the latest version of IE- 9, 11, 12...I'm not sure what version it's up to- but today's page loaded slow.
On a PC using IE, read your RSS on Google Reader. No problems. Wrecks as awful as usual!
Oops, forgot to mention that I'm using Vista. So glad there are no problems for me! I need my daily wreck!
Using Firefox with NoScript (but I allowed cakewrecks.com. I cannot see images, just light blue boxes. I can click on the box and the picture loads in a new page.
I'm on a Macbook Pro running OS 10.6 with Google Chrome and all is fine. Additionally, Google Reader seems fine too.
Hi Jen,
It's definitely acting squirrelly here -- took a long time to load, and then scrolling wasn't smooth -- very choppy, bouncing around, and it often doubled images. Of course, that meant TWICE the freudian nightmares, so that meant twice as much fun -- or appalled confusion, depending upon how you look at things.
I'm using plain old boring Internet Explorer (8, I think) if that helps.
Also, it works with iCab, Camino, and OmniWeb, although in OmniWeb and Camino the top ad is left-jusified.
I have a mac book use safari and google reader. No problems.
No problem here. On PC, using Firefox with Google reader and have Verizon virus protection.
On my MAc Book Pro it actually loaded a lot faster than it ever has. I use Safari as m browser.
actually loading FASTER and more completely than before - on an iMac using Safari
I only get a chance to look at this site at work and there are always pictures that don't show up. Only a box with a a little red "x" in the middle. It looks like we have Symantec Antivirus and the still haven't upgraded us so Internet Explorer 6. It did load a lot quicker than normal for me.
No problems for me for a Mac using Safari. I was able to get to the linked blog post for the first picture, but the 3rd one on this entry ('select the CW book cover') came back as "page not found--does not exist").
(WV: arkdo--seems especially appropriate for us here in Seattle today, drowning under the remnants of the cyclone that was in SE India a couple of weeks ago. Definitely need an ark here!)
This post was fine. The post before it didn't load all the photos on the RSS feed.
Mac running Firefox.
Chrome/Vista
All is well.
BTW, no Princess Bride reference ever goes unappreciated by me.
For the first time in ages I can now see your CAKE WRECKS heading. Keep up the good work!
No "Help for Haiti" link or pictures on the Google RSS feed, but all else is well. I'm on a PC with IE6.
Using Firefox on Windows Vista, no problems observed... And you get bonus points for the Princess Bride quote!! :) :) :)
Windows 7 on a high speed cable connection, using Google Chrome for the browser. No problem.
Well, it's later in the day, but no problems here. Firefox browser, AVG virus program.
All is tickety-boo & hunky dory.
I'm on a MacBook with Firefox and have had no problems with the site all week.
I'm running windows 98 with Firefox and AVG anti-virus. Everything looks great from where I sit.
