What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

And After This We'll Play Volleyball!

Today's musical accompaniment:

(For best results, hit play & start scrolling.)

Revvin' up the oven

Listen to the batter pour

Maybe I should mention

Something you just have to know:

Hiiiighway to the... Baby Zone

 (You're icing) Riiight into the...

Baby Zone

Do these ghosts look quite right?

That's certainly a scary sight

You'd better hit the deck

And baby, swim for your life!

Hiiighway to the Baby Zone

This conga line leads riiiight into the...

 Baby Zone

You'll never look at these balloons

Without singing the ol' misCONception blues

You'll never know what you can do

Until you get it up as HIGH as you can goooOOOOOO*!

[air guitar solo]

[Yeah, I know, it's kind of long]

[But hey, while we're waiting, what's that on Barbie's skirt??]

Out among the pumpkins

Always where I yearn to be

The turdier the stems

The more I think I'll just have tea.

Hiiighway to the Baby Zone

"Zebra stripes" will flyyy into the Baby Zone

Highway TOOOO the Baby Zo-hooo-oone!

Ice into the

Baby Zone.

Thanks to Kristen, Jessica S., Britny, Rachel, Paige H., Stephanie P., Camille C., Jolly D., Whittney W. for being my CW women. (If you unpack that carefully, there's a joke in there. I think.)

* I never realized how suggestive they lyrics to Danger Zone were until I paired them with these cakes. These are the only two lines I didn't change. See what I mean?!

And now I no longer have a sweet tooth!

Thanks for your help with my diet ;)

I guess that first cake is a bachelor party cake. Every one of those strawberries has been iced with a bow tie and a tuxedo. Those poor little squiggles just don't know where to go.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

Goodness, Gracious, Great Balls of Fire! (Huh, the whole Soundtrack is suggestive...) This post Takes My Breath Away.

Remember, ladies, this is what happens when you start Playing with the Boys. I've certainly Lost That Lovin' Feeling...

Great parody, Jen! That's why you're Top Gun!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSharyn

I loved the musical accompaniment and laughed myself silly throughout the whole post. This totally made my day!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKate

Really you never relized it?!
we used that song for the garter toss at our wedding!
those cakes never stood a chance

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterspeth

Wow, what a start to the day! And that volleyball scene remains, to this day, my absolutely favorite "let's just sit back & watch gorgeous guys get all sweaty" movie scenes :-)

I love the gift wrap ribbon on the pink whatever-the-hell-that's-supposed-to-be on cake #7. It makes it so much classier! BTW, today's post totally proves my comment from yesterday >^. . ^<

Best. Post. Ever.

I LOL'd right into the Danger Zone/Baby Zone (same thing to me).

Barbie's dress provided courtesy of the Monica Lewinsky fashion collection!

The little swimmers on Evelyn's cake look more like slugs to me. Either way... disgusting.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAmy in Nashville

The first cake would be great without the squiggles.

Cake 6: I've never seen a sperm microphone before. But since you've provided musical accompaniment today, it's totally appropriate.

Awesome, awesome job, Jen, as always! LOVE the parody.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermeeshybee

I looked at one,
I looked at all...
I laughed and laughed,
I had a ball....

I couldn't say
Which one the best is,
'Cause I'm not sure
Just what the testis.....

Cake Wrecks, this is zoomom requesting a flyby.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterzoomom

"Until you get it up as HIGH as you can goooOOOOOO!" I laughed so loud I scared the dog!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKate

All that cake, just waiting for some Ice(man) cream.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterjackwire

I feel like the kind of person who repeatedly drives past the train wreck--I keep looking at those cakes in horror and disgust, but I just can't stop looking. I hope the song retreats from my brain soon.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterdrgns4vr

I giggled until "high as you can go" and then I died. Then I came back to life, saw Barbie's air guitar solo, and died again. This will get me through my Thursday...thank you!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commenternettybobetty

It's my birthday and I hope my cake doesn't look like any of those. I do love the Top Gun theme song, though. :)

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermakfan

I know far too much about Hentai for that Barbie cake to do anything but make me feel all squicky and gross. O.O

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBADKarma

They got Monica Lewinski's hair color wrong on that 7th cake. That IS quite a wreck!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSara

Loved the musical accompaniment. :)

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTXPNS54

I was wondering if I'd ever see my sperm ghost cake on here!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJessica S.

Awesome musical accompaniment!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAmber

hahaahaahahaahahaahahahahaa *draws a breath* hahaahahahahaahahahaaaa

and now I'll have the song stuck in my head for the rest of the day

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDegera

Say what you will, these Wreckerators have got spunk!

(and now you know why that should be the past tense of "spank")

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterkhereva

Emery's cake looks like leeches have devoloped a taste for buttercream. I'm not sure which is more frightening; "The Baby Zone", or leeches...

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGennyDiggory

The doll cake looks more like albino spiders to me but the others are definitely some of the least appetizing cakes I've seen in a long time. Bleck.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJane

Sitting here giggling, loving jen@deedee cupcakes line XD

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

Those are the ghosts of the spermies who died on the way there :3

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLiz

Not going to lie, I would totally still eat that neon chocolate cake. I feel like neon colors shouldn't be appetizing because they are totally unnatural, but somehow the brighter the cake, the more I want to eat it!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKelly

Wait... I thought there was volleyball. Shirtless, sweaty volleyball...

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterFearless Colon

I'm only slightly more disturbed that the name on the Barbie cake is "Addisan" than I am at the um...spunky pattern on the dress.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNatalie

@zoomom "Negative Ghostrider. The pattern is full"
@sharyn~ perfect addition to todays musical post!

This whole week has been one of those days! Just as I was about to face palm my desk this post comes along to save the day! I think the progression of laughter went something like this: giggles -> chuckles -> full belly laugh culminating in a snort -> briefest of pauses and then hysterical laughter. Can't get that damn song out of my head now....

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAmanda

OMG ... on Pinterest I came across a person who has 10,000 pins specifically about getting married. And of course a board dedicated to .... wait for it.... yes wedding cakes.

This one was my absolute favorite!
Seriously - you got to see that one!

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCynthia

okay, I need to post a note on my computer not to catch up on multiple days of CW - not normally an issue but I'm going to be without internet for a few days starting tomorrow. I have laughed until I pulled a muscle in my side and my jaw felt like it was going to unhinge. I nominate zoomom for the best movie quote and Sharyn for bringing it home. Andrea and Jodee really got me going...mel, oh, mel (shakes head)

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

P.S. I didn't need to play the video because I know the song so well. Yeah, I admitted it! I wore out 2 cassette tapes and literally wore out a cd of that sound track.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

I just hope Hubby didn't hear me singing the Baby Zone lyrics! LOL! Don't worry, I'm not quiting my day job any time soon.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commentercrownring

Thank you, cakewrecks! You have provided by first smiles and laughs for the day.

October 11, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterakathleen

Well now I have the urge to watch the volleyball scene over and over again.. or is that just me lol. Wow now I will never look at balloons on cakes in the same way. I will just laugh and run away even if they do look like balloons and not sperm. Ah the joys of being me sometimes lol.

That first cake must be from a fancy prep school Health class. The ova weren't wearing tuxedos in the filmstrip they showed us in public school.
