What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Haiku Joy - for today's poems, I think you win the Internet

I'm sorry, the scariest thing about the topper is: that the glasses are empty! The only thing that can help now is champagne, wine, Jack Daniels--something to blur the vision!!

Way to go Thing. You found a match.

And there are no rings because it's the right hand they used. Straights put their wedding rings on the left hand.

Look what I just saw on Pinterest! A steampunk companion to this creepy topper!

I think it would have been better if they'd used left hands, so they could have rings.

The solar flares must have gotten ahold of this site earlier, I couldn't get on either. Too bad the flares didn't get ahold of those hands. O_O

Yep, this would definitely qualify as creepy. *shudders*

I suspect it isn't the groom signing ILY/I love you, since his thumb is hidden under the champagne glass, but maybe just a Y and the bride a L?

There are no rings because they are the right hands;-). And must I say, eewwww!

@Di well, dang, where do I sign up to earn “mirth points?” I’m laughing if not exactly inducing laughter- does that count? No? Double dang…

Since I was so studiously avoiding looking at the hands I caught the detail of the vine forming a little heart near the brides, um, well, elbow area. Cute touch!!

Aieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee get it away lol. Sorry couldn't resist. The roses are really pretty on it.. hands not so much.

Why is the man making the devil's horns sign?
Howlin Mad: Ah, it's the haunting Torgo theme!

According to tradition, the top tier is preserved for the first anniversary. Twelve months might be enough time to forget certain details concerning that tightly-wrapped package in the freezer.

"Our first anniversary. Let's have the rest of our wedding cake, shall we? We'll unwrap it together." [in unison] "GAAAAAHHH!" [thud-thud]

Presented for your consideration and filed under 'it seemed like a good idea at the time' in...the Cake Wrecks Zone.

@Barbara Anne

I hear the surest way to earn mirth points is to make a Mirth Day cake, and to get called "Photoshopped" on it when that's obviously the joke . . .

Mirth Day is sometimes confused with Irth Day, merely because they are on the same day (and rhyme). So when is Irth Day, you ask? Conveniently enough, it's easy to remember the first Irth Day. It's the day after the First Epcot.

I'm planning a zombie wedding. For that, this is appropriate, other than that? *shudder*

March 9, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJackie

@Haiku Joy good one!! :D I immediately envisioned a large sheet cake with "photoshopped" written on it and randomly piped "pixelated" areas... now I really want to go bake a cake LOL

@Jackie a zombie wedding?? oh, I hope there are photos- that sounds freakin' awesome

Wow, that's cool! (and kind of creepy!) Totally picturing Adams family. That is by far the most unique cake topper I've ever see.

@Yvonne: Tom Lehrer!

"Say our love be a flame, not an ember,
Say it's me that you want to dismember."

For those not familiar with his work, there's a video with the lyrics here

March 18, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLetitia

April 4, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterbex

Bad idea. Just a bad, bad idea.

April 6, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJes

I think it would be awesome if they were bone. I really don't find them creepy.
