What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Haha, my 7 year old watched me scroll through these cakes today and the only ones he didn't know was the first one and dinosaur. He loved them all. Like I said, he is 7. He thought yesterdays cake was "awesome" I forgot to tell him they were the cake WRECKS.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered Commenteranony mouse

That last cake is either Nacho Libre or El SuperBeasto.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterThe Former CB

What do we say about these cakes? Arrrrrgh.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJess T

To celebrate the day, go into Facebook language preferences - one of them is Pirate. It's hysterical!

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterbmbagain803

Londo! I can just hear him reading this and shouting "VIRRRRR! you moon faced assassin of joy!"

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJamie Jo

5 CCCs (patooie) in one post...aarrrrr!

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEla

I think the golf ball cake is slightly freaking me out, the green minivan looking cake is classy, though!

Today's my birthday, here's to hoping my cake doesn't end up on here.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJess

The cake you labeled dinosaur looks more like Hamilton Island where I buried my booty.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRJ

That last one looks like a zombie version of the mushroom thingies from the "Mario" franchise. Which would be clever if it were actually intentional. Which it isn't. Oh, well.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBADKarma

That carrrrr cake is wrong on so many levels. Who orders a CCC for their wedding cake, and not a lovely display of individually decorated cupcakes? Can't they dress up the cake tray a bit, since it seems to be celebrating a wedding? I guess the limited budget also means they couldn't afford the inclusion of the requisite streamers and cans tied to the back as well--just a spray painted message on the door. And now the sheet of icing uniting all of the cupcakes is starting to sag, resulting in a quilted appearance for the vehicle... Oh dear, it looks like the back tire also has had a blow out--what a way to start the honeymoon! And the fact that the depiction of the vehicle of itself seems to be done by an elementary school student in art class... Poor couple!

1. If it be a numbARRR two pencil you're wantin', look no fARRRthARRR!

2. They'll not be gettin' fARRR with that flat tie-ARRRR!

3. That wreckerator be the son of a motherless goat what drunk me whole bARRRRel o' rum! (okay, so I got my Amigo mixed with my Pirate...)

4. Who'll be helpin' YOU, flattened, satchel-wearin' HamburgARRR HelpARRR Hand?!?

5. That be the sARRRiest dinosARRRR ever I laid eyes on!

6. If he'd be wearin' a straw hat, he'd almost be Luffy's pirate flag (anyone?). Uh, ARRR, or something.

@ShARRRRyn: uh, good job as always, but mostly I just wanted to say "ShARRRRyn".

I assume that these cakes will be nibbled to death later by by ......Pah! What are those Earth creatures called? Feathers, long bill, webbed feet…go "quack".

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterIsolder74

Ahoy! Avast! Arrr! :) That WAS fun! Unlike that last wreck which will haunt my sleep tonight.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLis

har har harrrrrrrrr!!!!

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterWonkafonka

I thought the last one looked like Larry the Cucumber in a "flat blue pirate" kinda way.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCandi

Dinosaur? That's a dog facing left, with a small round alien hanging from his tail!

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterKei

Sharyn, I dont know how you do it but you arrrrrrrrrrre by farrrrrr the best.

Now remember lads and lassies: if you go to the barrrrr, don't drive the carrr, or you'll end up in the ERRRRRRRRR.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterjackwire

All of those cakes should be made to walk the plank!

For those of you who have not heard it, there is an official sea chanty for "Talk Like a Pirate Day": Written and performed by Tom Smith - The World's Fastest Filker! Check him out here:

There's also a Cap't Jack Sparrow song by The Great Luke Ski -- the twisted mind behind "Wreckin' By The Book"!

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCapt_Video

Is it just me or does the dino cake looked like a green dog with an extra face on the end of his tail.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRags

I'm sure that eventually these cakes will be nibbled to death! What are those Earth creatures called? Feathers, long bill, webbed feet…go "quack".

Vir: .....Cats?

Cats! They'll be nibbled to death by cats.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterIsolder74

That golf ball cake should be cARRRRRRRRted away.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNyperold

Yay, Paul & Storm! Now I have to go listen to the Captain's Wife's Lament again.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMania

TwinMom, my Sib had a CCC wedding cake of sorts. It was CCs frosted red, white and blue, arranged in the shape of the Texas flag (the couple lived in Texas). Cute and much, much less expensive than an official wedding cake.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTXRed

Harrrharrrharrr! Funny

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterspudd

That's not a golf ball. It's cauliflower being stirred in a put with other veggies with a wooden ladle. It's less of a wreck if you look at it that way. Maybe?

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJabby

@ bmbagain803: I changed my Facebook language to English (pirate), and it gave me a hearty laugh! I even posted this on a client's Facebook, just for fun.

The golf ball cake shivers me timbers. Too scary!

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterTLC

I watch One Piece, but I can't say that it looks anything like Luffy's flag. I thought it looked more like Cookie Monster in whiteface.

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterJamie

Hardy har har

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMe

o.O thanks for explaining what everything was since I saw a steamrollered Winnie the Pooh with tire treads across his face. can't see playing "Jukebox Hero" on that!

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

TLAP is also my oldest son's birthday! Needless to say, hilarity ensues... :-D

And Sharyn--or is that SHARRRRRRRRRRYN??--your song pARRRRRRRodies take the cake! :-D

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterDenita TwoDragons

Yar! What be a pirate's favorite letter?
You'd think it be "R," but 'tis the "C" !!!!

September 19, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterG-Baby

Man all the wreckerators should be made to walk the plank on these lol. Is that a monkey on the Jolly Roger? That or maybe a rabid cat I can't really tell. My brain exploded from all the pirate talk on here and Facebook lol.

September 20, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

A bit late, but save it for next year:

How do you know when you're a pirate?

You just ARRRRR...

September 20, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSherryH

Anybody know where a pirate keeps his buccaneers? Why, under his buckin' hat, of course!
Thanks for the laughs, John!

September 20, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterRachel T.

That last one looks like Papa Lazarou from the English show 'The League of Gentlemen' Scary Scary clown man.....

September 21, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterGillian

Awwww, you flatter me so, John & Jen! I'm sure I'll keep sending you pics. I keep finding SO many fails! It's an epidemic I tell you!

September 21, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSuzanne S.

I thought the golf ball cake was Mr. Bill with an upside-down headset.

September 22, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterImaLemming

SubPARRRR! *laughing hysterically* pirate pun for the win!

September 25, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterMimi
