What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Gobble 'Til Ya Wobble

And just in time, too, 'cuz the gang's all here! Here, lemme introduce you.

Spuds McTurkey:

Daddy Long Legs:

Mad Eye:

Danny Double D:

(aka "The Smothered Brother")

The Gobbler:

"All right, all right; just one wafer-thin mint."

...and, last but definitely not least, Mr. Hurkey:

They're here to wish you a very:

Or, if you prefer past tense:

Now get out there, my friends, and:

Sounds painful.

Sooo... chop chop!

Thanks given to Ashley K., Bonnie C., Caitlin D., Carina B., Allie S., Lauren M., Rachel S., Tammy P., Maggie W., Judith R., Courtney, Daniel L., & Leslie M. for making "ham" a verb.

Sung to the theme from Gilligan's Island

Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale
A tale of some wrecky cakes
That should have just been bad ideas
But then somebody baked.

The first was a squat potato bird
Stretch was a Poo Wang, sure
Chuckles could make you laugh all day
Long Legs stood secure

And Mad-eye looked a little gruff
While Double D looked cross
Gobbler thought just one little thin mint would do
And Hurkey won't be bossed.

On Thanksgiving you can be sure, at least for a little while
There's thanks to give
Past tense will do
The turkey pleads for his life
These turkey cakes
Are the best...
Sure... to... bring... you... a... smile!

Happy Thanksgiving, everybody!

Aww, poor Chuckles looks so sad. More emotion than I'd expect from a CCC (ptooie!).

Show of hands: who else is streaming the MST3K Turkey Day marathon on Youtube? SO excited!

I want to take Chuckles home and cheer him up - I've never seen such a sorrowful cake.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you over there - may none of your turkeys look like poo...

First I read that as "Harm anyone." When I noticed no R, it took me far too long to figure out the message was missing a comma and question mark.

I can't help thinking about Bristol charts, especially for Mr Hurkey! Another one whose glad we don't do Thanksgiving in this country after seeing these. But you have cheered up my Friday immensely...

For the first time, I'm not spending Thanksgiving in my house or relations' house. I'm spending it at a family resort/waterpark with my immediate family, and I just got done eating a Thanksgiving dinner I DIDN'T HAVE TO COOK!! So today I'm thankful for that. Also hot tubs.

After looking at these "cakes", I think I should be thankful for pie. And also, I believe it is a clear breach of etiquette to hum anyone you don't know very well, so anybody "Hum Anyone" cake at its word does so at their own risk.
(Nice South Park reference, Jen.)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!!
Mr. Hurkey looks just like the deposits my dog leaves in the back yard. Makes me want to get out a pooper scooper for that cake. "Hurk!"
Also, @ Anne, I really didn't need to know what a Bristol Chart was. Had to Google it. Wish I hadn't. Thanks for that. ;)

Thanks for a good laugh! I can't believe anyone could put these cakes up for sale, and still look themselves in the mirror. Good thing they do though, or we'd lose our Cake Wreck fodder!

@ Sharyn...brilliant, as usual. You crack me up!
@ Monica...This hand is way up - Watching Mitchell right now!

Mr. Hurkey is officially the WORST poo cake I've ever seen. It actually made me gag a little bit.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

November 28, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAndrea

Does anyone else think Stretch looks a little too excited, shall we say?

November 28, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

That second one is a poo wang if I ever saw one!

November 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterTeal

Happy Thanksgiving! Does that last cake say Ham Anyone or Harm anyone? Lol either way what a nice message for the day. Will pass on the cakes too with turdkeys on them makes me not want to eat any turkey hehe.

November 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

Can't believe this... all this poo... "Gaston! A bucket for monsieur!"
(thanks for the reference, Jen!)

November 29, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterkaffeefreund

Turd Turkeys! I saw cakes like these at Walmart.

November 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterAbuela

I have never thought of poo or phallus in regard to Thanksgiving desserts... until now. OMG I am thankful for pie! Undecorated, boring whipped cream or meringue topped PIE! Hahaha

November 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterKristi

I am not sure I can look at stretch with children around.....either that or my mind is telling me I am not getting enough....ummmm.....turkey...yeah turkey (well that is what I am going to call it!)....Hahahaha these were awesome wrecks!

November 29, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterNikki

I actually saw the most beautiful CCC Wednesday at the local grocery-it was a turkey with a big rainbow fan tail in actual ROYGBIV order--as I was marvelling at the actual non-wreckiness of it, someone bumped the bakery table with their cart and it hit the floor upside down. A true cake wreck!

November 29, 2013 | Unregistered Commenterkbaann

Shouldn't Mr. Hurkey have been saying "Howdy-DOO!"...?
