What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Maybe my senses are getting dull, but Oscar, and Big Bird don't look too bad, although Oscar's eyes are a bit odd, but maybe it's better looking straight down.

Why are most of these looking to the heavens? The better to signify "Oh Lord! Why?! " except the last one which stares into the darkest recesses of your soul.

When I was 6 years old I had the most terrifying nightmare of my life where big bird sliced out a chunk of his eye and ate it. This was almost 30 years ago and I still get the willies when I think about it. This post brought it alllllll back! Thanks! (p.s. I was really a pretty normal child with a loving and stable home life and was SUPER sheltered i.e. never saw a horror movie until I was in high school. My mom actually edited out the "scary parts" of the Gostbusters move so it was about 25 minutes long and made no sense. I have no idea where my little kindergarten mind got that from... )

The last one is the unholy lovechild of Elmo and the Babadook.

Was "Satin" supposed to be Satan?

Help! I’ve fallen into a cake and I can’t get up!

The second one looks like the offspring of Cookie Monster and Medusa.
The third one looks like he's in jail, so no wonder he appears to be screaming.
The fourth one I guess is supposed to be Oscar the Grouch, but looks more like Baby Oscar all wrapped up in his crib.
The last one ain't Elmo. It's Elmonstero.

Is that Big Bird or Homer Simpson????

There's only ONE that's staring straight into my eyes.
That one is spared.

Poor whipped satin Elmo is in a cake box prison.

Sing a song of eight cakes,
A blogpost full of "Why?"
Poor beheaded Big Bird's
Baked in a pie.*
When the cake was cut through,
The kids cried "AaiiYaYa!"
Wasn't that a wrecky mess
to set within your jaw?
Whipped Elmo's in his plastic jail,
looking rather funny,
Cookie's in the cupcake case
Eating something runny.
Oscar's in his garbage can,
Sticking out his tongue,
When down came a cake knife
And sliced up all their fun.

*Ok, "cake" didn't rhyme there.

So, I'm supposed to be doing my NaNoWriMo writing, but I took a Cakewrecks break... Can I count these words? ;-)

Anybody else read that as "Whipped Satan"?

For my grandniece's two year birthday my niece lovingly made her perfect Elmo cupcakes. All was fine until we set one in front of her and told her to eat it. Tears ensured. The cupcake had to secretly be de-Elmo'ed and re-presented to her as just a cupcake with red frosting.

I loved the cute cupcakes lol then saw the others. Oh man what the heck is wrong in that bakery? Other than hiring people that have no idea what Sesame Street is or what the characters look like lol.

Number Six reminds me of the last scene of the movie, "Freaks."

It looks like Big Bird has seen things -horrible things- and decided to try hiding in a cake.

The first Cookie Monster cupcake is beyond adorable. The second looks like he got sick from eating too many cookies.
