What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

I was on a blog yesterday with this kind of 'hooked on 'phonics/speech pathology edition' spelling. It's just painful to read.

Nothing else to add really...

I can't be the only one who thinks Felix the Cat will agree perfectly with the Happy Bird(h)day. Being a cat the extra H in the middle is nothing if he gets that bird. Yup, a perfectly happy day and something to celebrate, though Felix would probably stick to celebrating by munching the bird and I could have the cake.

The famous statue is humiliated......I wouldn't blame him if he left on the horse he Rodin on.

Although I find these hilarious I made my own "wreck" for my husband's birthday when I painted the sliding glass door and left out the "H" in birthday. I cringed for weeks after that but realized that when you are taking a long time to create each letter it is easy to drop one. In my defense, however, my letters were 8 inches tall and made with three colors- plus it wasn't "professional" work. (And I made up for it by creating a beautiful "H" out of pipe cleaners. What guy wouldn't appreciate that!

I'm not sure why, but the third cake made me immediately think of that old Ray Stevens song, slightly modified (I'm really showing my age here): šŸŽ¶Guitardzan, he's the guitar man, he's all you can stand, give him a hand, Guitardzan! *long ululating wail ala Tarzan*šŸŽ¶ Anybody else remember this song? Now it's gonna be in my head all day long...

I read Cake Wrecks every day and don't want to go another minute without telling you all how absolutely wonderful your site is. I laugh and groan and sometimes want to throw things across the room, but all in a good way! Thank you, Jen and John, for the years of amusing wreckreation.

The more I read stuff on Facebook, the less these kinds of things surprise me.

I had a cake written on for my birthday by someone that worked in the bakery that wasn't supposed to write on cakes because I guess she was on the spectrum, but she was the only one there that could help out. The look on her face when I told her I really appreciated her talented work was something I will never forget.

Too funny! Poor Shultzie. He has seen everything and still "he knows nutzing!" showing my age right?

The Happy Morther Day cake is yet another version of Happy Falker Satherhood. Another treasure to behold...

I would be dead of frostbite if I had brought my Mom a cake that read "Happy Morther Day".

The guitar cake makes me wince! Ouch! Could that be intentional? I also want to reach in and move that candle, quick!

When I was a teenager I asked for my birthday cake to read, "Bathy Hirthday, Gremlin!" It's a reference to a TV show. The cake came back exactly how I ordered it, but when my parents were checking out (at the grocery store), the cashier asked if their daughter's name was Gremlin.

My favorite birthday cake read, "Happy Birthpocolypse!" (12-21-12 was my 17th birthday.)

Wow so many different ways to spell birthday. Who knew? Lol these are hysterical.

It's amazing how homophones trip people up. Like on that first cake.
