What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Jock Glitch

Wow, guys. Just...wow. How about that game yesterday, huh? Hoo boy!

Yessir, it would have been hard to predict THAT outcome!

Much like it would have been hard to write this post two days ago because I had to catch up on Brooklyn 99  urgent things to do on Sunday. Or maybe my power went out. It could have. YOU DON'T KNOW. [poker face]

Alright, look, it's long been established that sports fans speak their own language. And I'm not judging! Dude, I once wore a Bajoran earring and Starfleet insignia. TO HIGH SCHOOL. So believe me, I'm not gonna say word one if you guys want to call it the:

Or if you believe you've contracted:

(Just tell me there's no lancing involved. At least not the icky kind. Actual lancing with horses and knights and stuff would be kind of awesome.)

And I'll only snicker a little when you cheer on your:

"Fire at will, Number One! It's evacuating the rear exhaust ports!"

And hey, just because "The kich 15 good" means nothing to me, that doesn't mean I respect you sport people any less!

I'll just respond with a little "Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra" and we'll call it even!

After all, you guys have your "Patrits:"

And we have Tribbles and Reavers and Sith lords. (Oh my!)

You score "Toachdowns:"

Or "Tochdowns:"

And we reconfigure the programming on our Kobayashi Marus.

Which, just for the record, is NOT CHEATING.

See what I mean? We're basically all the same! We all have our passions, and our quirks, and sometimes - SOMETIMES - we all make mistakes.

But seriously, guys, I have no idea what you're talking about. Can someone translate this into Klingon for me?

Hey Mary M., Melissa M., Lynn H., Dan H., Erin W., Amber G., Jessica S., Sara J., & Janette R., lupDujHomwIj lubuy'moH gharghmey! So I hope you like sushi.

Thank you soooo much for writing this so I can send to all the sports geeks in my life who wonder why I'm not PASSIONATE about...any sports, actually! Can you do the same for basketball, baseball, hockey... ;-)

The Super Bowel cake - shouldn't Picard have said, "Number Two" instead of "Number One"? Just asking.

I'm sorry but changing the winning conditions of a test just because you don't want to experience the feeling of losing is cheating.

"Let's Make a Deal" had a Star Trek themed show this morning. Everyone was dressed up as Star Trek costumes. It was so much fun to watch!

WHY do people insist on spelling. Ooops oppps? What sound does your mouth make when you say Ooops? Lots of oooo's. Not lots of ppppp's. Just like a lot is TWO WORDS. You do not write aporkchop or amilkshake. WHY do you insist on writing a lot as alot? Touchedawn!

When did decorating a cake (or a giant cookie) with gift wrapping ribbon become a thing? Even if it’s your team colors.

Either I’m an optimist or I’m gullible. I ran your Klingon through Google Translate just for giggles. No luck. Someone at Google needs to add Klingon and Elvish. What kind of rinkydink company are they running?

I assume "Super Boll Fever" is a Southern malady triggered by over-sized cotton seed-pods?

To be fair, some of those misspellings could be attributed to phonetic spelling of regional accents.

The two-toned football field has so many mistakes on it, maybe misspelling "Oops" was meant as a final irony? ...nah...wreckers aren't clever enough for that...

@Sue W.

I think the "a lot/alot" thing happens so much because of confusion with the homophonic word "allot", and of course because those who confuse the two terms aren't paying attention/thinking enough to realize the difference. Kind of like people who type things like "should of" instead of "should've", they're just copying the phonetics without thinking about or understanding the meaning of the words. (one of my internet pet peeves; although I find "shoulda" acceptable as a phonetization)

So...when did they stop teaching Roman Numerals and the proper layout of them in school? I learned that in grade school! Sad.

February 5, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterJjC

You wore a Bajoran earring? That would look great on you! I think we deserve pics :)

February 5, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMatt

@JjC

That's the correct way to write 45 (a smaller number in front of a greater number means to subtract the smaller number from the greater number, remember? X = 10, L = 50, XL = 50 -10 i.e. 40; otherwise 40 would have to be written XXXX, & the Romans just weren't cool with putting four of the same numeral in a row.)

I guess 45 was a really great Super Bowl if they're still celebrating it...*googles Super Bowl XLV*...8 yrs later... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
