What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Chevron Strikes Again!

Remember when someone ordered a cake with a chevron print, and got a chevron gas symbol instead?

Ah, good times.

Well, since then, we've seen a baker do this:

And then, just last week, something amazing happened.

CW reader Ashlee ordered a baby shower cake with a chevron print, and - drum roll, please....

Chevron, Chevrolet... oooh, so close.

Thanks to Fyre & Ashlee J. for the car wreck.

Thank you for using our Amazon links to shop! USA, UK, Canada.

Ironically, Baby B was conceived in the back seat of a Chevrolet at a Chevron station.

Plus the & is backwards on the Chevy baby shower cake.

Song time!
"See-e-e-e the USA in your Chevrolet while stopping at a Chevron along the way...."

If the text weren't so sloppy #1 would almost be an ironic win. But #2 is just about the saddest thing I've seen on this site.

But, it's the heartbeat of America...

well... it IS the heartbeat of America.

Obviously, 'chevron' is too fancy a word for most wreckorators. I would suggest telling them that you want a 'zig-zag' pattern, but then you would probably get a sheet cake with a pack of rolling papers on top of it.

At least its a decent looking Chevy symbol!

"Chev-ro-let good times, come on!"

They didn't even trim the edible image paper. Jeeeez.

OK, can we acknowledge that that is a perfect Chevy icon?? If only the baker's critical listening skills were so good...

Unusually abominable lettering on all.

I can feel my brain cells dying, from looking at these cakes.

Oh man is this a cake from an actual bakery? If so.. what the heck? Lmao. I guess the wreckerators figured no one would know the difference. Apparently they don't know the difference either lol.

The Chevy cake is an obvious photoshop job. Too perfect, no perspective.

Sharon, Sharon, Sharon. you are a wicked and wild woman and I am raising my glass of the finest ripple to you in salute.

April 1, 2015 | Unregistered CommenterJamie Jo

At least the people with the Chevron cake did technically get a chevron pattern.

April 1, 2015 | Unregistered Commenterpikkewyntjie

Well the original Chevy logo was a it's kind of close...if you ignore the fact that they used the modern "bow-tie" logo. (which doesn't look like a bow-tie, makes no sense & is stupid, whereas the Chevy chevron made perfect sense & was awesome...really Chevy needs to go back to the chevron as their logo)

See your baker, hey, wreck your cake today.
