Sunday Sweets: Sew Much Fun

Did you know September is National Sewing Month?

The trouble is, I can't sew. I mean, REALLY can't sew.

Still, it's Sewing's Month, so let's try to make something, shall we?

We'll make a quilt!

(Cartoon Cake Village, Italy)

Don't you love all the pretty pastels?

You're right. It is kind of hot to make a quilt...

I know! Let's make a gorgeous, flowy dress:

(Soheilarizi, Iran)

That'll be perfect for these last days of summer.

First, we need to gather our supplies.

(Cookie Connection member Royalbites, Malaysia)

What? I get hungry when I craft. Besides, who'd turn down these beauties?

What else?...

Oh! A sewing machine!

(Irina Svetlichenko, Ukraine)

Wow, that's beautiful. It looks like antique porcelain.

I'm a klutz, though. And a sewing novice.

So maybe we should pick something a little sturdier.

(Rosebud Cakes, now closed)

Now, we're going to need some fabric.

How about this green, fluttery one?

(Cake Heart, Canada)

Look how beautifully that drapes!

Oh, you'd rather have pink?

How about this?

(Cherry Tree Cakerie, United Kingdom)

You're right, this'll be perfect for a dress.

OK, we still need a sewing kit.

(By hospital chef Meg Davis, North Devon, England. Read more here.)

That's impressive.

You've done this before, haven't you?

Do we need any buttons?

(By That Baking Girl, Switzerland)

Because these are adorable.

Let's see... what else?

Maybe one of those dress form thingies?

(By Cakes Decor member Evgenia Vinokurova, Russia)

Amazing! And it looks like you started without me.

Hey, that's OK. I'm just glad one of us knows how to sew.

Hang on, what do you mean, you don't?

We've gonna to need a lot more help.

(whistles shrilly)

Hey, guys! Can you lend us a hand?

(The Clever Little Cupcake Company, United Kingdom)

See, I told you we'd be done in no time.

Happy National Sewing Month, everyone!

I hope it's Sweet!

P.S. Since I don't sew I also don't have one of those fancy embroidery machines, but if I did, I'd use this to transfer my pattern files:

"Sew Pro" 4GB Flash Drive for embroidery/sewing machines

It's just so cute! Plus you'd always know which drive it is.

And from my other blog, Epbot:
