What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

My Funny Valentines

My dears, the day has come when I can finally say:

Perhaps an illustration would help.

Perhaps the children should leave the room.

(Then we can rock out with our "guitars" out!)

Sometimes a problem is pretty black and white:

If ever a wreck deserved our silent reproach...

Others require a bit more brain power:

Talk about a tough cake to wrap your head around.

Btw, you disappoint me, bakers. Not a single zombie joke? Really?

(And are those eyeballs? REALLY?)

Hey now, bakers, don't give me no lip.

Or whatever this is, while you're at it.

Look, just stick with wishing us a happy Valentine's day, and we'll get along fine.

What's that?
You can't spell "Valentine's?"

Oh. Well, just abbreviate it, then.

Clearly I didn't think that one through.

Maybe if you call it something else?

Or, you know, grab the piping bag and have a hand seizure?

Tell you what: how about we give you big plastic letters to spell out the word "love," and you just plop those on a cake? Eh? Nothing to write, nothing to draw - in fact, I'd be hard pressed to think of a single way anyone could POSSIBLY mess...

Thanks to Dana B., Mindy B., Meredith B., Mary F., Marion N., Cathy W., Chris P., Laura H., & Jackie E. for bringing Valentine's Day to a new "loe."

Is anyone else amused by the irony of the self-proclaimed "Sunshine" trying to rain on our parade every day? It makes me chuckle. And it puts a song in my head. So, with respect for different points of view and with apologies to The Beatles for what I'm about to do to Here Comes the Sun:

Here comes the sun(shine) doo doo doo doo
Here comes the sun(shine)and I say,
It’s alright.

Little darling, grey matter icing won’t displease you,
Little darling, you’re okay with the STDs, too.
Here comes the sun(shine)
Here comes the sun(shine) and I say,
It’s alright.

Little darling, no problem with the guitar winkie,
Little darling, our fun is all you think is stinky.
Here comes the sun(shine)
Here comes the sun(shine) and I say,
It’s alright.

Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.
Sun, sun, sun, here it comes.
(etc., etc.)

Little darling, I think these wrecks are just a riot,
Little darling, you might like laughing if you try it.
Here comes the sun(shine)
Here comes the sun(shine) and I say,
It’s alright.

My 7 year old daughter gave me a valentine this morning that said " I LEVO YOU". Maybe she has a future as a wreckerator?

Gee -- these things practically write themselves some days, don't they?? LOL! You guys are terrific, though. I go into withdrawl anytime I don't read Cake Wrecks every day.

One of my friends in my department was handing out chocolate-covered strawberries today and advertising Singles Awareness Day, aka SAD day. I showed him your site and it made the day of all us singles. Happy SAD day!

You have no idea how much of a thrill I just got seeing my "lips" wreck submission! Thanks for using it! The 2 plastic lips (which, I'm assuming, were placed there as some sort of hint) look like 2 massive cold sores. Ew!

I just knew another VD cake was coming lol. Nearly every year someone must receive this cake and wonder about their loved ones sanity or the wreckerators. Lol at the brain cake. If my hubby got me a cake like that for Valentine's he would not be enjoying one bite of it and I am sure once I got all the frosting off it must be a delicious cake..possibly?

On the V-Day note, I was in Publix yesterday (2/14) and saw the heart-shaped meat cuts....and all I could do was snicker. Ah, Cake Wrecks, you make every trip to the grocery store more fun :)

LOL My initials (first and middle) are VD, no really. No one ever figured out how funny that is until I went to college. Now whenever I see it somewhere else it just makes me laugh really hard. Extra gold stars for this post!

I just got a chance to look at this one and all I have to say is "I love you for your BRAAIIINNSS" :) Try to stay away from those er guitars and V.D"iseases" .
So love your site, I find myself searching the supermarket each trip... :)

I personaly busted a gut over the Happy V. D. Glad I wasn't drinking anything. Bad enough I got spit all over my computer screen. lol The brain cake took me a while, It was kind of like looking at one of those I Spy books. I was trying to figure out what all the words were. I wouldn't knock the LOEV cake, maybe they have dyslexia. Serious, I do and I have messed up a couple cakes like that. lol Had a hard time laughing at your hand seizure joke as I have seizures. But I am sure if I went into one while I was decorating a cake it might look like that or even worse.

Maybe #7 wasn't hand cramp, it looks to say Happy devo Day! Guess the wreckerator is really into Whip It. ;)
