What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

The Far Side Of Cake, Vol. 5

The disguise worked, and soon Dennis counted himself the luckiest shrubbery this side of Caerbannog.

Switzerland's elite S.W.A.K. team:

Wilbur froze. Had the others heard? Bessie continued her unblinking stare into the distance, no doubt remembering their last conversation, and Allie - well, Allie was an idiot.

Thanks to Linda L., Judson W., & Gary for being so totally Far Out.

A green sunglassed shrub
Lolls by plastic pineapple
And asks, "Where's the beach?"

Sung to "I Knew You Were Trouble (when you walked in...)"

I knew you were shrubby when I walked in
So put that drink down now
You put lips on pastries time and again
Better than a frown, oh
Wilbur sensed the trouble when he saw them
Bessie was a scaredy cow
Meanwhile Allie missed the whole thing again
She's an idiot of some renown...

Oh, oh, shrubby, puckery, dummy

Stolen With A Kiss

she handed me one
smiled at me, her face blushing
I smiled in response
my heart became hers that day
stolen by a cupcake kiss

There must be an amazing explanation for the lettuce-inspired mound of frosting. Somehow putting sunglasses on inanimate objects instantly makes them cute.

Sheer perfection. Especially the last one. Very Larsonesque.

Green frosting counts as a vegetable? AWESOME!!!
The middle S.W.A.K member on the right has googly eyes! I like him the best :-)
I think I love Wilbur. I'm pretty sure I'd never be able to eat him but I'd like to have him on my desk.

Dennis looks very excited to be snuggled up with that pineapple.
Great post, these far side homages always make me giggle.

#1: To sneak - perchance to hide. Ah! There's the shrub!

#2: I think you mean S.W.A.K.D. = Silenced With A Kiss...of Doooom!

#3: Absolutely perfect caption on that one, Jen. Teehee!

@Tanka: Awww, very cute.

Actually, cake 1 is Dennis Rodman cleverly disguised as a leaf od lettuce. His friends said, "let us go to the club and have a good time." To which he replied, "I don't feel like it. Leaf me alone." And he donned hus disguise and headed for his pool.

I love the SWAK team!

That asparagus/pineapple looks like it's having a good time, anyway!

I wonder, does the first one count as eating your greens? It totally looks like lettuce to me.

Dennis stole the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch.

... And the people did feast upon the lambs and sloths, and carp and anchovies, and orangutans and breakfast cereals, and fruit-bats and large chu...

The SWAK team reminds me of Roz in Monsters, Inc.......CLONED!!!!

I'm in the corner hiding if anyone wants me......

Loved all the captions but that last one made me spit out my coffee. Not pretty but really, really funny!

September 26, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterMerrysea

@Just Andrea: Shrubspeare...err...Shakespeare...nicely done!

September 26, 2013 | Unregistered Commentermel

We demand another shrubbery!!! One that's slightly higher, with a little path :)

September 26, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterErin

CC, I'm glad I wasn't the only one who saw that! o.O

Loved the last caption, Jen. Of course, between Cake Wrecks and being around 200 teenagers every day, my mind went directly to all the rude sounds Wilbur might have made.

Lmao I love Monty Python and the Holy Grail. This "shrubbery" has made me want to see it again. Wow. Wreckerators have me sitting here laughing hysterically. Again.

September 27, 2013 | Unregistered CommenterArlene

Dude, OW. OWOWOW! That last one made me laugh so hard, I was literally in stitches; I got horrible cramps up the right side of my rib cage from cracking up that hurt like hell, but I still can't stop laughing. EET HURT SOOOO GOOOOD.

Your Pal,
