What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

8 Creepy Easter Cakes To Haunt Your Dreams

Ahem hem hem.

Kill da waaaabbit
Kill da waaaabbit
Kill da WAAAAAbbit....

With fire, if you please.

Hey, remember when the Easter Bunny didn't have giant claws?

Or a hump?

Invasion of the Bunny Snatchers:

How much you wanna bet it glows in the dark?

The longer you look at this, the creepier it gets.

This rabbit has smashed spiders for eyes and a ripped off Peep face for a nose:

No doubt he also has 'UUGE POINTY TEETH.

When you see it:

Gets me every time.

Ok, picture this: You're home alone, Easter eve. A sudden storm blows in, knocking out the power - just as you hear a slight scuffling coming from the hall closet.

You slowly walk over, creeeeeeaaaaak open the door, and see:

"'Ello, guv'na!"
"Mind if I hop on in and eat your face?"

Thanks to Jacquelyn H., Laureen V., Emily W., Stephanie E., Lisa F., Anony M., Tami N., & Tracey S. for the sweet dreams.

Someone help me out . What am I supposed to be seeing on the weirdo lamb cake?

Sung to "Peter Cottontail"

Here comes Easter cookie fail
Kill with fire, or impale
Clickety, clackety, bunny claw dismay

Neon bunny kills your joy
Chick wants souls he can destroy
Seriously, you should run away....

Evil sheep will stalk your Mommy
Cockney bun' will kill you, too
Back away from Pink Eye calmly
'Cause he's hatching plans for you

Here come Easter Bakery fails
Easter plans will be derailed
Yickety, yuckety, take those things awaaayyyyy...

Cake no. 5 - as a result of using the peep face for a nose, he also has 3 nostrils!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJennifer

The last one looks like a high furbie...

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermiss_paper

@Longtime Fan - (I think Jen may be referring to..) when you first look at the cake all you see is the blue with plastic flotsam and then you may glance up and then see - the head. The creepy head with pink eyes. I didn't see the head at first and when I did it was a bit spooky.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCC

The lamb has evil eyes on the back of its evil head!! AAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!

On the bright side, the "moment of Jen" is kinda cute. In a highly plastic kind of way. :-)

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterlisadh

The peep-nosed rabbit looks like Liza Minnelli!!!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterDominic

Longtime fan: Weirdo lamb cake...isn't that enough?

'Moment of Jen' Hahahaha!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterRoseAnn

That creepy, creepy lamb! It's worse than the zombie rice crispy lamb I made a few years ago....*shudder*

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterranger

What is #4 even supposed to be? It looks like a strange clown head to me, but as that's not Easter-y, I think I may be missing something.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterTrekkie Gal

I dunno. the second to last one is kinda cute. the last one reminds me of something from Wallace & Gromit.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterjo

It's time for the Easter Bunny to retire 'cause clearly he doesn't give a crap any more if he approved that pig-cow-bunny cake thing.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMelissa

I Literally GASPED when I saw the lamb cake. I was like, what, are they drowning, what is GASP!!!!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterRachel

Hey, the decapitated-Peep-nosed monstrosity is Easter bunny approved, so who are we to say what evil lurks in those smashed-spider Robin Egg eyes.

And there's no reason to assume the blank-eyed Lamb of Doom has evil intent just because both the bunny and the chick seem to be peering over their shoulders in terror.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAngela

Oooo, classic Looney Tunes AND Monty Python? Nope, still can't unsee the blank-eyed stares of neon-colored fluffy spring animals. Run away, run awayyyy!!!!!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAlison

That second-to-last one -- so close, yet so far. Sigh.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterkayk

Lol@sharyn :D. Makes me glad I am jewish so we do not have wrecks of this magnitude D:

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

Cake #3 - First saw the lizard alien that Kirk fights with in Star Trek:TOS

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSaraV

@Longtime Fan: I think it's that you focus on the flotsam on the wave-like blue background, thinking this is just a strange loaf cake, then suddenly you see the lamb's head with glowing eyes staring at you. Yikes! It's ALIVE!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterkayk

Oh, the memories. Years ago at Easter time, my sister gave me & my little family one of those darling little ("Silence of the-") lamb cakes. It looked really yummy, but the little ones didn't want to "kill" it. A day or two later, when we were all -I swear on a stack of MAD magazines- asleep, the little scamp (cake) *apparently* got up and went "out" for a gambol, and was *urp* never seen again. We explained to the kiddies that it must have been very unhappy in the fridge, was surely better off in a warm, sunny field, munching on sweet clover somewhere, as free and happy as a know. =^u.u^=

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

I'm totally with you guys on your assessments of the creepy lamb cake. And, may I also add, those eyes are enough to give you nightmares!

The peep-nosed cake looks like a demon pig.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJodi

Did the purple ribbon around the 5th one make
anyone else think it's in a straight jacket?

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAna

#5 looks like a demon cow to me. No matter how much I head tilt, I don't see "rabbit", bunny approved or not.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKim L.

@SaraV -- you mean Gorn
Epic wrecks today! Can't imagine what you will have for us the rest of the week, but then my very active imagination couldn't possibly have come up with any of these wrecks.
But I am all ears to see what kind of snarky comments you can come up with to fit the wrecks, so wriggle your tails and hop to it, CW team!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMaureen

"Well, that's no ordinary rabbit. That's the most foul, cruel, and bad-tempered rodent you ever set eyes on! Look, that rabbit's got a vicious streak a mile wide! It's a killer!"

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterTim the Enchanter

The third cake reminds me of that optical illusion of the woman in the mirror. I had to look at it five or six times before I was able to see anything other than an alien.

On the plus side, if you were have a Futurama themed birthday party (and why isn't this a thing? because it totally should be...) it would work as a Kif cake.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterNagzilla

Hilarious comments today! I didn't notice the "Easter Bunny Approved" part of the tag until I read your comments, and then all bets were off as far as keeping my composure. I just . . . I just can't believe someone tried to sell that, even with how disillusioned I am from viewing this blog on a daily basis. It's just too outrageous.

And yes, that lamb cake . . . (shudder). So creepy and inexplicable.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterHeather

Am I now afraid of the Easter Bunny? Yes...but just a hair......

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermel

The Moment of Jen bunny looks like it has a baaad hangover. You wonder what could give an Easter Bunny a hangover--too many jellybeans? Go home and sleep it off, Petey.

And the chick cake reminds me of the baddie in the movie "Hop"--you know the little insane dude who tried to take over Easter since the Easter Bunny heir ran away to play drums. You may question his sanity, but you couldn't fault his ambition. Personally, I sorta liked him; he was definitely not afraid to try. Of course there was the sanity issue, but still he was fun. And he did have a huge point: chicks and eggs make a helluva lot more sense than bunnies and eggs. Honestly! Whoever thought THAT combo up?!?

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

Okay, I'll go with the theory that cake #7 is a rabbit -- possibly a one-eared rabbit -- but what on earth is the thing rising from its butt? Could Mr. Easter Bunny be the reason rabbits multiply like, well, rabbits?

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterZeldabird

Number 5: not only a torn peep nose, the torn off ears are attached to the cake's ears WHY WHY WHY

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCCOOL

Holy Creepy Lamb!! Reminds me of "The Woman in Black", still the creepiest movie I have ever seen.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAudrey

4th cake, the yellow creepy 3-winged chickie/clown creature grabbing on to the slithering poop snakes. Yeah. My idea of how to celebrate Easter. Shiver.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterbassgirl

What hump?

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJackie

kinda looks like the "when you see it" creepy lamb cake has a pretty yellow bow to hide the tracheostomy.
Wonder if it was the creepy smoking lamb cake from years past. <g>
April 2009 and it's still haunting....

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterT

The 6th cake: what on earth is that?
The Lamb Of Doom??

*runs and hides behind the sofa*

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterMafdet

I say, I say, why is there Foghorn Leghorn floatsam on that Demon Lamb cake, son?

Considering that Easter collides with the other great holiday this year, you know, 420, I don't think I could touch any of these cakes no matter how bad the munchies got.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterKelley

Ah, kill the wabbit. Bringing back fond memories of the year I was in Germany for Easter, then went to Switzerland on Monday to see my exchange student sister. We sat on her apartment balcony and sang "kill the wabbits" while biting the heads off yummy Swiss chocolate bunnies. Sigh. . . .

And now I want my "moment of Jen" every day. It will help me survive these nightmares.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterTLC

Okay, so my husband and I both nearly wet ourselves over the second-to-last bunny. It looks just like the General in the film Watership Down - and made us think of the bit in the film where the poison gas is pumped into the warren and they're all convulsing and dying. Good find, whoever snapped that photo!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterUrgo

I'm just glad they can't jump out at me. Creepy cakes.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara

Would number 6 be "the silence of the lamb"?

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterLeah

I think Easter wrecks are my favorites all year. Just something about cute baby animals being creepy as hell.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCharlotte

Easter Bunny Approved? Go home Easter Bunny, you're drunk!

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJodee

I warned you. I warned you, but you didn't listen to me. Oh, no, you knew didn't you. It's just a harmless little bunny, isn't it?

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterpikkewyntjie

If you ignore the evil lamb head, you can look at the blue bunny head long enough that it turns into the face of a cute albino one-eyed Despicable Me minion with a pair of goggles pushed up onto the blue kerchief he's wearing on his forehead.

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterjbrecken

Oh holy wow!! Or is UNholy wow more appropriate? There is little left to say about the When You See It lamb... I originally thought it was some sort of creepy reflection on the plastic box until I noticed it was attached to the marge Simpson hair.... *shudder*

As for the Moment of Jen all I could think when I saw it was, look, it's rolling its eyes at the rest of the cakes. .. What a hypocrite lol

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSnowAngel Chelle

On the first cookie-cake, are the rabbit's eyeballs on his ears? And if so, WHY???

April 16, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterCarol

Oy vey.
