Sunday Sweets Is All About April

Usually I like a good continuous theme for Sweets, but this week I decided to change it up by celebrating a bunch of super specific, super obscure April holidays.

So hey, Happy Mathematics and Statistics Awareness Month!

Sum cakes have it where it counts.

(That's a little math humor for you. Yes I'll stop now.)

April is also the official month for Global Astronomy:

... Jazz Appreciation:

... and humor!

There are a lot of cakey options for celebrating humor, but since I'm not looking for wrecks, this is the one that immediately came to mind:

This Pixar short makes me laugh every time - and this cake captured the little birdbrains perfectly!

You know the old phrase, "If that actually happens, I'll eat my hat"?

I FOUND THE PERFECT HAT:

Not only is that cake, it's iced with all buttercream. No fondant!

(Just realized I probably should have mentioned April is Straw Hat Month. Oops.)

How about something out of this world for National Facial Protection Month?

I can't tell if the light reflection on the visor is real or painted - and that makes me so happy.

April is also National Multiple Birth Awareness Month, and I found just the cake for it:

Look like the Cat In The Hat acquired a new Thing! Such a fun way to celebrate triplets - and I love the personalized art of the 3 sisters on top.

Kite Month will be shining, shimmering, splendid with this beauty:

I've only mentioned month-long celebrations so far, but this week is Bat Appreciation Week!

D'AWWWW. Look at the cutie! Reminds me of Sydney Hanson's bat art, which I've always loved.

That brings us, finally, to today, and I have delicious news: it's National Deep Dish Pizza Day!

Aw yeah, I'll take a pizza that, please!

I hope these made you smile, gang, and reminded you to celebrate more of the little things! May your Sunday at home be extra Sweet.

And now, for the person who loves both pizza and power tools:

And from my other blog, Epbot:

In case you ever wondered what Ron Swanson would look like as a balding muppet:

"You may have thought you heard me say I would like a lot of cake and ice cream. But what I said was, give me ALL THE CAKE AND ICE CREAM YOU HAVE.

"Please and thank you."

Shannon ordered a "red cake with sprinkles" with "Happy 30th Birthday Fred" on it.

And, you know, technically the bakery got a lot of that right:

See the red sprinkles?

Not really sure what's happening here:

I *think* it's supposed to be a skirt/dress, but all I see is an overflowing science fair experiment. You know, like those baking soda volcanoes? Except this one looks more minty. And... hairy.

You keep doing you, bakers.

And finally, when you ask for a number 3 train cake:

...and get the #1 train wreck:

Cannot. Stop. Laughing.

Thanks to Amy B., Krystine M., Shannon L., Susan H., & Anony M. for getting us off track.
