What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

I Would Tell You To Get Your Minds Out Of The Gutter, But Who Are We Kidding Here?

It's Hump Day, minions!

So let's mosey on over to a certain bakery's display counter (!!), and see what kind of kids' birthday cakes they offer, shall we?

Ahh, here's a design I'm calling, "When The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Come Out Of Their Shells"

[awkard silence]
Er... Cowabunga, dudes.

Now I have an earworm, but with different lyrics. "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles...Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles....TURTLES ON THE HALF SHELL...A LITTLE LOWER!! (That's the cartoon theme song for any who remember when their kids watched the show :) April would be devasted if she saw this cake. Her Heros exposed.

The crazy thing is, the execution is excellent.
The placement is, to be polite, odd.

Is it just me or do they all look seriously high? Guess they don’t just party with pizza.

Keep it in your shells!

Besides the hand placement and stoned look, isn't the one sitting or something on the back of the other? And what are the drips on the side of the cake? How do wreckerators not know how the finished product looks? Of course, if cakes were all Sunday Sweets, it would take all the fun out of Cake Wrecks.

Does it have to be something inappropriate? Come on now, these guys are athletic, being ninjas and all. Maybe he just has shell itch and he needed to scratch.

The one in the back left (either Donatello or Leonardo-can't tell if his mask is blue or purple) looks really drunk. As in, wasted, can't hold his head up, obliterated drunk. He seems happy, though.

And they're in a hot tub of melted mozzarella?

Ah, the scales are lifting from my eyes (and other parts of their anatomy by the looks of things). Remember the Italian leader Berlusconi had those notorious "Bunga Bunga" parties? Is Bunga short for Cowabunga? The clue was in their Italian names all along.

The turtles have been around a long time. I'm sure a lot of their fans are now fully grown-up people who like to remember their childhood heroes while letting their hair down at parties.
