What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

This week's nightmares brought to you by Jen!

That is honestly amazing. I want that cake. I think I love it.
zoomom: You win at Internets.

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEmma

zoomom, Sharyn and TechyDad FTW! I thought I would break something laughing so hard. I'm all scrolling down the pics slowly saying oooohh this is gonna be good. Wait for it... wait for it... Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always gotta watch out for a sheep in bunny's clothing.

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLindarella

Is that first one the sheep from Wallace and Gromit?

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBea

Lol!! Well I certainly will never see sheep quite the same way ever again. Thank you wreckerators for being you ..very evil and twisted.

I second the convention idea. Since certain people on this site have said they won't be touring anymore, perhaps we ought to have it in Florida. Besides, it's warm there. I remember warm. I've heard they even have this thing called 'sunlight' that is strong enough to throw 'shadows'. (sigh)

I've always thought a reverse book tour would be a scream -- instead of making Jen and John (thoJ) run all over the continent, we could go to them. (It's not really a pilgrimage, if that helps reduce the creepy factor.) There ought to be time for a group photo before the police show up.

If a live get-together proves impractical, what about a virtual convention on a social media site?

Theardare isn't 'brought' -- like all cats, he shows up where he wishes, when he wishes. Never argue with a cat that is packing heat.

I love this x + y = #$&*%&#^%! format; it's brilliant!

Oh, and I totally agree: zoomom, Sharyn and TechyDad, you are awesome. (And so is the CW team, of course, but today's comments are particularly worth reading.)

I think zoomom's comment on a shirt below a photo of the cake would be priceless.

Fire! Kill it with Fire!!!!!!!!!!!!

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterVixx

I think it's a sheep pretending to be a rabbit--wearing tie-on bunny-ears and showing od it's teeth in an imitation of the bunny's...

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterdrkala

Props to Sharyn and Zoomom!!! The post is hilarious and they make it more so!!!!!

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterWroena

It's not often that a picture makes me scream out loud, but you found one! That is one terrifying cake. Thanks for the nightmares! :-)

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterAlexis

I think you all are missing the point on this one. For the right person with a weird side...AKA me...this is cake genius.

@Craig and Barbara Anne: We could call it CakeCon (or WreckCon.) Can you imagine the cosplay costumes? Carrot Jockeys, Wooldemort, Amber' (complete with pole,) DOC Ninjas, Cow Ducks with (Bugle) Horns and Goatees, lots of Theardares. I'm in.

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSharyn

Wait! That's one of the Lonely Goatherd's goats--from The Sound of Music!
Yo ho lady odelay-hee yo ho lady odelay...

Whoever mentioned the movie "Black Sheep" totally wins! What a great flick! Ah, zombie sheep! Oh and it does look much like the creepy sheep from the Pixar short. I always thought that one was a little twisted!

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterCrematia

I have seen that sheep somewhere before, but I can not place him! Now you've got me Googling "scary cartoon sheep"! AAAAAHHHHHHHH! I'm seeing some nightmarish things, but I can't find him.

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterSue

I'm in for a CakeCon, but I have to bring my grading. When you see, you'll understand why no grammar stupidity on a cake ever truly surprises me.

re: CakeCon

Random considerations: we need to play that cake decorating game where you fling flotsam from 10 feet away (I think Gary had suggested it). I can file for the parade permit, arrange the media coverage and decorate the banquet hall. I need someone else to make party favors and tend bar.

Actually, being in the same town means I can arrange most everything except the group photo- unless we're planning waaaaaayyyy ahead. I don't think the restraining order lets me near the CW HQ before Thanksgiving 2015...I'm sure the rest of you can get away before the cops come but this ankle "bracelet" hampers me a little. I'll just make sure to wrap up my personal affairs before being toted off to the pokey. Send cakes (with or without files in them).

March 30, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterBarbara Anne

wow, tell me if I'm wrong, but I think this is actually what the baker intended...

March 31, 2012 | Unregistered Commentersam

CakeCon! I'm so in! Will there be costumes? Can we dress as our favourite wreck?

March 31, 2012 | Unregistered Commenterzoomom

Good lord that is one creepy cake....

March 31, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterLiz H

Whoever said it looks less scary without the teeth is right. I also had fun adding some eyelids and lashes and some lipstick and it turned out kinda cute....lol...yay for paint and free time!

March 31, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterShannah

Oh my god...no matter where I move....the eyes....they follow me....

re: Cake Con
I'll help! I might even be coaxed into digging out my glue gun!! I also have some crepe paper. Do you remember making Kleenex tissue flowers? (for the float)

Theme Color: Orange (Jen's fav-of course!)

With Jen and John (thoJ)'s permission; I think that the party favors should be:
Carrot Jockey Necklaces, Jars of Sprinkles, Mini Theadare Keychains, and hand size, soft plastic "Sailor Blob/Frogs" (when you squeeze them their eyes pop out or their hat flies off)!

We would have to have a power point presentation continiously running pictures of the covers and each page of Jen's books.
There could be a cake decorating station, with pre-baked and frosted cakes, where there would be contests in the following categories: flotsam, mithspellings, scary and just plain wrong!

I think if we offered the poice some cake, they'd be OK with us taking a group photo!!

April 2, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterEla

I think this is easily the most amazing and frightening thing I've ever seen.

April 3, 2012 | Unregistered CommenterNikki

This cake is still up for sale. I saw it on Sunday, grinning from the pastry cake. I'm sure it tastes great, most of their flavors do.

Have you people never seen the Serta mattress commercials with the counting sheep? I'm pretty sure that's what this is supposed to be. The bunny ears threw me off a little, though...haha

Here's the sheep in question:
