What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

YES WE CA... Oh. Well, Crap.

Thanks to Lionel S. for reminding us there's also no "eye" in "team," although I don't see what that has to do with anything.

It took me longer than I care to admit to figure out what that word was supposed to be.

Maybe it's actually a cake about American exceptionalism.

wv: s-cces --- An act of accomplishment that does not include U.

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterelm

Oh, Oh! I see a missing apostrophe! I mean, I don’t see the missing apostrophe! Well, like, you know, an apostrophe is missing!!! Squee!!!!

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAmber'

Well, they may have only gotten 1/4 of the words correct and added unnecessary quotes, but at least they included a huge pee-yellow "star"!That really makes all the difference, don't you think?

This is when I wish we could post photos on comments. I have SO many meme photos that would work here! But as George Takei would say, "Oh myy!"

Next time they should make the cake say "We can't spell S-CCES without US!" At least they'd hit all the letters.

I'm with Captain Sisco on this one.

It reminds me of this Facebook Fail that a co-worker shared with me.

I would add...

Is there some sort of scholarship fund we can contribute to for grammatically-challenged, spelling-impaired bakers?

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSusie Q

Well, I can't spell "CAN'T" without an apostrophe, or "SUCCESS" without the third "S". I was also under the delusion that "WITHOUT" was one word. Your turn, cake. =^-.-^=

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

Perhaps this particular baker has never had occasion to use the word before. Did ya ever think of that, huh?

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

It took me a while to notice that something got scraped off next to SPELL, also. Maybe the missing S?

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterBin

Yes, I agree with Avery Brooks. There is no hope.

Poor Captain Sisko. He shouldn't have let Rom decorate the cake for Employee Appreciation Night. Sure, Rom's a brilliant engineer, but cake decorating should always be left to the pros. We all know that they always get it right, right? Ummm...right?

That GIF is perfect for how I feel right now...

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

@SaraCVT you nailed it!

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterNassauLInda

Maybe the wreckorator should have stopped after "We Cant Spell". It would have been more accurate. I am currently re-watching the entire series of DS9 so I definitely feel for Captain Sisko.

So so close. *sigh*

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterangie

Aw, mel -- er, I mean, "elm" -- I miss the ol' WVs...

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSharyn

"I CANT b-liev my I's"

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSandy

This deserves a few more starship captain facepalms.

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterErica

@AngelaS--There's no "P" in "Star!"

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered Commenterjackwire

I am aware this is not a widely-held view, but I always considered Sisko to be the best Starfleet captain portrayed, because he has That Voice. With that Voice alone, he could make ME split infinitives man had never split before and seek out new places before I had time to think: I'd just automatically do it! High officers need A Voice, and he's the only one who had it.

But there are many, MANY purists/feminists/Britophiles who disagree.

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterSaraCVT

Sisko is my favorite Captain from Star Trek, too!

That's how we spell SUCCESS!!
Goooooooo Tigers!

(that was actually a cheer I learned in elementary school)

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterNancy

The Sisko facepalm totally made my day.

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterDanielle

Oh @SarahCVT, now you've done's not like Star Trek fans are known for our lack of passion or anything. You don't think Patrick Stewart has The VOICE? Especially when he said, "The line must be drawn he-ah! And no furtha!"?

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAngelaS

I'll bet they can spell FAIL, though.

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterRoxy Random

It's Kirk, no matter what. It's. that. speech. pattern. Plus hair.

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterNobodee Home

Missing apostrophe? Check.
Misspelling? Check.
Bad word-spaciing skills? Check.
Open-ended quotation marks? Check.

Yes Johnnie! You've passed your final exam for the Wreckerators' School of Doom. Here's your certificate. Now, go forth and wreak havoc in bakeries everywhere!

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterJodi

LOL @jackwire!

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterAngelaS

@Sharyn: me too....

October 21, 2014 | Unregistered Commentermel

Well now I can't stop laughing. That GIF is perfect for this. Honestly wonder what on earth wreckerators are doing in the bakery at night..probably drinking and decorating lol.

October 22, 2014 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Oh, absolutely Jean-Luc Picard. Make it so.

October 22, 2014 | Unregistered Commentersendingtheclowns

What about Capt. Kathryn Janeway? Instead of 75 years to get back to the Aloha Quadrant it only took her 7 Seasons. Now that's a something even Kirk wouldn't of done.
