What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

Say What, Again?

Sometimes people often send me their cakes with no back story, which usually isn't a big deal, but other times...

I like to think this is the same James:

And all together, now:

"Nana nana nana nana nana... da heck?"

Now here's a reader who knows how to properly stage a photo:

Never have I been so grateful for a pair of quotation marks.

Deep Thoughts
From The Bakery:

I guess it must be a birthday cake? Maybe?

"Gee, thanks, Mom."
"And don't forget to show your friends the new sweater vest I got you!"

I think "Danngeous" is supposed to be "dangerous."

Sooo, I'm guessing they never saw these bon-bons, then.

"And thank YOU for putting them out again."

This is one of those times I wish I was a baker:

I mean, the urge to put a plastic roach in this thing must have been OVERWHELMING.

And finally:

That says "Happy Holidays Mile High Ferret Club."

That last cake makes me think of the part in Harry Potter where Draco Malfoy gets turned into a ferret and is bounced around by levitation. That cake could be for him if he had been thrown a mile high in ferret form.

1) It's a cake for the CDC and they've found a cure for cancer but discovered a new virus strain they call "James", you know, the guy in the office that's the most annoying and makes you sick to be around.
2) This cake is to celebrate both James and his new furniture. He's been sitting in and sleeping on boxes for the last five years.
3) Static Batman? Does that mean he's like taking your sweater off over your head on a dry, winter day? That must have been a real shocking and electrifying game. Or maybe just revolting.
4) "WHAT?" Maybe this is one back story we don't want to know.
5) That makes sense. If you were in the back and driving you'd be a...back seat driver. (Bet you didn't see that coming).
6) Is that wedding cake, or wedding coke? Because that might explain a few things.
7) But they only do it in the dark. From sunup to sundown, they're igdaying them.
8) Obviously a cake for the US embassy in Russia.
9) You just tried to weasel out of getting a back story for this one.

The Mile High Ferret Club made me laugh harder than anything I’ve ever read on this (or any other) site. Thanks for that!!

Is that Subway Jared on the last cake? You'd think he'd be featured on the "Registered Sex Offender" cake...

If you're going to encourage someone to steal a cop car, you shouldn't put it in (icing) writing.

100 days bug free isn't an occasion for cake; it's a reason to get a new QA team that will try harder to find them.

"Registered Sex Offender" just reminded me that a family member found the link to our area's RSOs on Halloween and we discovered one lived down the block. I wonder if this was for them…

Uh…no, I didn't think to Google "Mile High Ferret Club," but my original guess was that it was a rejected album name when Sheryl Crow did "Tuesday Night Music Club." I'm probably not right, am I?

Cake 3 is almost a haiku:

Game over, I win
Cries out the Static Batman
Flawless Victory!

And that danngeous cake is dang genius.

January 2, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterJules

That danngeous cake. When I was little I was taught how to spell dangerous by remembering the little boy who went to the zoo to see the dang-ger-rous.

I’m so jealous of the person who owns a “driving and not in the back”! I’ve been looking for one of those for a very long time!!

Well now I have just about seen it all. Mile High Ferret Club? Really... I think I am going back to bed wake me in a year or ten lol.

POSSIBLE explanation for #1:
THE Ohio State University is home to the James Cancer Center, affectionately known simply as "the James."
Someone traveling there for treatment might well be saying "Goodbye Cancer. Hello James" but I would have put them in reverse order!
