What's a Wreck?

A Cake Wreck is any cake that is unintentionally sad, silly, creepy, inappropriate - you name it. A Wreck is not necessarily a poorly-made cake; it's simply one I find funny, for any of a number of reasons. Anyone who has ever smeared frosting on a baked good has made a Wreck at one time or another, so I'm not here to vilify decorators: Cake Wrecks is just about finding the funny in unexpected, sugar-filled places.

Now, don't you have a photo you want to send me? ;)

The Final Countdown

Look, bakers, I'll be the firth to admit I'm not so great with numbers...

...but something here just doesn't add up:

Major props for helping "Keydunce" celebrate such a special milestone, though.

The kind of milestone, in fact, that most of us will spend the next few seconds trying to pronounce.
(I'm going with "three-und." Or maybe "Thirnd.")

Hey, is it just me, or have you noticed families having LOTS of kids these days?

Not to mention getting super lazy naming them all.

(Johnny Five's sister? We can only hope.)

Ok, now you're just making stuff up.

Maybe if you skip the number superscript all together...

Well, bakers, I guess you're just going to have to spell them out. That way there's no chance of any of these piddly little technical errors, you know?

I don't... how could... WHY... Oh, never mind.

Happy Liberation Day, Kanaan.

Thanks to Kajal, Kailey S., Anony M., Moira B., Beth M., Tyffani C., Alison U., & Crystal T. for putting two and two together... and getting all sixes and sevens. (That one's for you British mates. Smoochies!)

I love how Brian's baker was fully aware they couldn't figure out the ordinal of that number(?), so just squiggled something and called it a day. It's the cakey equivalent of a shrug.

Those are just...pathetic. Thirnd? And why are people celebrating an infant’s thirnd month « birthday »? Seems a bit of a stretch. Then there are those yellow worm embellishments on Kanaan’s cake. « Shudder »
Thanks for once again making the neighbors wonder why I’m laughing hysterically.

Well, this is the 1th time I have ever seen such an error...

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered Commentermindy1

You've written....threEve. Let's see what you've wagered.

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterLaura

I pronounced it "thund".

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterKat

Kanaan is a House Elf. Kanaan's owner gave him clothes. That's why Kanaan is Free.

In Portuguese we don't have this problems: all number superscripts are "o" if refering to a male noun, or "a" if female and then a dot at the end. So, 1o. , 2o. , 3o. , 4o. for male and 1a. , 2a. , etc

Plus those green things on some of he words on the last cake look like big squidgy caterpillars. On a cake. ew.

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered Commenterkarilon

It is pronounced Thund
Also, I hope Amanda 6's birthday is not her 30th (or if they prefer 30st).

1nd, 2rd, 3th o'clock, 4st o'clock rock
5nth, 6rd, 7st o'clock, 8st o'clock rock.
We're gonna wreck around the cake tonight.

Sigh. Where's Sharyn when you need her?

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterSomeone New

On that last cake, I immediately heard the voice of Dobby the elf. "Master gave Dobby clothing! Dobby is FREE!"

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterChenaya

1) Maybe Maverick and Colin had the same birthday.
2) This cake seems a bit sixist.
3) Or threend.
4) There were a lot of them. How many of them ran for President?
5) She comes after the Dave Clark 5.
6) 2 E, or not 2 E, isn't that the question? And what's a birthjay?
7) I guess her first four years must have been bad.
8) I bet his parents didn't say that when they got the hospital bill when he was born.

Why are there commas all around the border of Kaydnce’s cake? And why are there scoops of frosting on the top? *confused*

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterChicago

You mention "British mates" at the end. That's how you get "free" instead of "three." Certain among them don't speak English "properly."

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterR3test

Ok, I just lost it at "Happy Liberation Day, Kanaan." In fact, I think that's how I'm gonna celebrate all my upcoming birthdays from now on.

"No, mom. This is not a celebration of my day of birth. It is, in fact, a joyful reminder of the day I was liberated... from your womb."

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterDegera

Maybe Kanaan is a house elf and someone gave him a sock??

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered Commentersara

Maybe Kanaan says 'free' instead of 'three'? So that 'free' might have been on purpose.

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered Commentertricia

Kanaan is free!

If not, I'll go as high as $2.98.

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered Commenteriamfelix

2E is a legitimate number, in base 16; the rest of us would call that "46".

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered Commenterlivinginaglasshouse

I'm just glad Molly isn't 2.

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered Commenterladypatg

Trust me; Brian is just happy that the cake doesn’t refer to him as “Brain”.

@ Someone New

BRAVO! We'll give you 1nd or 1th or 1rd prize, whichever you prefer.

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMike

That jungle cake barely qualifies as a wreck...the giraffe with the stiff neck is awfully cute. Cute giraffes can redeem almost anything.

January 29, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMarnieB

Oh how I dread birthday cakes or any cake just about after seeing these lol. They can't harm a pie can they?

January 30, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterArlene Marie

Arlene Marie, some baker somewhere is thinking 'Hmm, a challenge.'

January 30, 2019 | Unregistered CommenterMorag

These replies are awesome. There's no way to even try to award 1th, 3nd, or even 6st place.

By the way, apparently I have an accent, as I think it's "Thend." (Plus "Firth" and "Sixst.")

Did anyone stop to think that perhaps Kanaan is now potty trained? They just couldn't fit "of diapers!" at the bottom.
